Just got back home from the install.... exhaust sounds good, but I can't seem to hold much boost at all. I can hear the air rushing out somewhere near the center of the dash. I don't have a CEL, and I checked all of the hoses that I messed with today and can't seem to find the problem.

is this the 02 silver?? we didnt get to the upipe??

Didnt you guys start to undo the intercooler??? Make sure you retightened all the clamps etc... seeing as 5 people were working on it someone was bound to have overlooked something....thats why I was always saying, have you tightened this or that...

    keep me posted

So why do you think you are not holding boost, do you have a boost gauge. Is it leaking by the turbo and are you sure its not just the turbo that you can now hear?

A boost leak sounds like boost leaking. More like a continuous blow off valve as you're on the throttle. It's a good chance someone forgot to tighten something down around the intercooler or maybe something wasn't fitted right.

It's definately a boost leak... air rushing out near the IC. I dont have a gauge but i can feel the big loss of acceleration as the whooshing noise starts. I thought all of the IC hoses were tight... but I'll pull it off and check again tomorrow.

chances are its the y pipe. those are sometimes hard to get on right if you dont know the trick.

I'm replacing the y-pipe tomorrow, hopefully that will fix it.

get a telephone cable or any other small cable. Depending if you have a stock y pipe or not....the stocker has a little nub on it that you can wrap the cable around. Come in from the left side of the engine compartment and wrap the cable around that nub. Lube both pipes with oil...pull the cable and it should slip right on. If you dont have a stock why pipe...tighten a hose clamp back a bit from the opening and tie the cable around that and pull it on.

when we thought the IC needed to come out to make the up pipe install easier i disconnected the two intake lines that connect to the front of the intercooler to those metal tubes which y together. make sure these get put back on. they are right in front, so take a look when you put in the y tommorow

all 3 of those hoses were put back on last.... as far as putting the IC back on.. the trick is patience... it really isnt that hard... the first tiem I did that it took me ages.. the second was like 10 mins... it is pretty easy... remember just do it gently...

I don't think having those connections undone will result in a boost leak, they are part of the breather setup.

Another good way of getting the intercooler back on without much hassle is to loosen or remove the driver side bracket (bolted in to the top of the intake manifold). This gives you the room to really force it all the way on to the turbo outlet and clamp the hose down. Then pivot the IC up and get the bracket back in.

I second the lubing of the inlet hoses. I put on a thin coat of engine oil around the inside lip of the silicone hose and I didn't have to fight much for it to fit. It took me 15 minutes for the whole y-pipe swap.

I think I found the leak- there was a hose clamp that was really loose on the short piece of hose that connects the IC to the fuel rail. I tightened it and went for a test drive and there was no more whooshing. I'll get that gauge in as soon as I can to make sure.
