Since I live in WI it's not always practical or possible for me to join the usual meets in the Twin Cities metro area so I was hoping maybe we could get a meet set up for those of us near the MN/WI border. No idea how many of us there are in that area but if anyone is interested please feel free to suggest a time/day/place that you think would work.
A park along the Croix would be tight! I'm 15-20 away from Stillwater, half an hour from Hudson, and 45 minutes away from Taylors Falls. I could be down! Willow River State Park has a pretty sweet waterfall and some moderate trails.
Willow River would be a good spot. I'm just outside Osceola and there's a similar park near the river bridge there as well. Once we get a little more interest and see where everyone is located I'm sure we can find a park or something along the river to meet that works for us.
Speaking of Willow River, the Willow River Car Club's having a show on May 21st. Mostly classics but it might be cool if we could get some Subies representing there.
There is a (relatively small) area to park but there's not much out there besides a trail that goes to the bridge. I guess I'd prefer an actual park so there's a spot to hang out, have a couple beers, or whatever you'd like to do. I like tangledupinblu's suggestion of Willow River but it is a state park so you'd need to pay to enter.
What I had in mind was something like the park on the MN side of the Osceola river bridge. Free entry, several shelters, grilles, and plenty of space. Across the bridge are a trail, a waterfall, a few decent bars, and some nice twisty roads in case anyone feels like wandering. Definitely open to other suggestions though.
My wife is requesting a park with a play area for the kiddo as they'll probably tag along. Willow says that there is a playground, shelters, grills, beach, large areas for frisbee/kickball, and ample parking. I'd be quick to pay for a park sticker for all of the amenities! That and we usually buy a pass each year anyways. We could definitely make a full day of it and do a bbq and whatnots.
Sounds like that'd work pretty well. Would be a nice bonus to have a place for the kids to play. Maybe we could wander around that car show for a bit and head over to the park afterward to check it out.
I'm loving the initiative, I would join on the 21st but signed my kid up for racing lessons at ProKart that day but am down for attending at least one of these if it holds together.
Don't mean to exclude drac77 but I think the 21st would be a good date for a trial run. The Willow River car show is at Uncle Mike's M-Por-E-Yum less than 4 miles away from the park and runs 8:00-3:00. I'd like to check that out and maybe have a BBQ at the park after. With the show going, even if we only get a few people together it'd be worth the trip.
Ok, so my wife has some girly stuff going on in the evening this Saturday so I won't be available too late in the day. I do still plan on being at the car show in the morning, so if anyone else is going to be out there let me know. Not much there for tuners but a lot of good old-fashioned muscle if you're into that sort of thing.
I am into the oldies! Unfortunately this weekend is a "help with the sister in laws wedding weekend" since the wedding is next week! I do hope to make one of these though! I think that they should be semi regular meets for sure.
Bringing this back from the dead in hopes of making this thing happen. @MrBlue @tangledupinblu @Krazylegz1485 @drac77 @retreif @Deathly any of you guys interested?
Yeah, I got a couple. Down to one Subaru. Car show is this Saturday and sounds like booked as a sitter. Maybe I can drag them out for a car show. http://www.willowrivercarclub.org/#!events
Always interested in a good old fashioned car meet outdoors and being able to appreciate member vehicles...
I can bring one of the many... If the spacers show up I'll roll the Swagon. I better get out in the shop and do some fender rolling. LMK Cole what time your goin, via text is better for me.
Lol, our numbers seem to be dwindling so maybe allowing non-bugeye models wouldn't be such a bad idea. You know, since some of us (@tangledupinblu) decided we'd rather drive something newer and more reliable.
Now this is just getting out of hand. First we let non-bugeyes in, now you want non-Subarus too? What's next, motorcycles? Hoverboards and Segways? Maybe we should let people without cars catch an Uber over to hang out just because they like Subarus and/or social interaction? We need to make MNSubaru great again by only allowing GC and GD chassis cars and build a firewall to keep everyone else out (the Baja owners can pay for it).
Alright, enough nonsense. @retreif is the Willow River car club show this Saturday the 19th? I got a flyer in the mail but threw it away and that link isn't working for me.
Never mind, did some sleuthing on Facebook and confirmed it is this Saturday starting at 8:00 in the a.m. hours. I should be able to make it but I'll most likely have my 3-year-old son with me and won't be able to stick around all that long.
There are some races at Cedar Lake tomorrow starting at 6:00, haven't been there in years. Love Ellsworth cheese curds so I might have to join in on that, looks like June 22-23.
Cedar Lake night would be bad ass. Too short of notice for us for this weekend, but that would be awesome. Especially on spectator drags night...
