Here's a picture of the downpipe: Inlet flange. The main hole is 2 1/2" in diameter. The wastegate hole is 1 1/4" in diameter.: Another view of the inlet flange: Top view, there some surface rust forming, NOTE, the flanges are steel!: View of outlet flange, here you can see where the dump pipe enters the main pipe, not a very smooth junction: Upper section wrapped: Poor fitment with the tranny bracket: Here's how you take care of this problem: Top view installed: Trans mount fixed: Here's a view from underneath. As you can see, the A/C drain spout runs right next to the wastegate pipe. With about 100 miles on it, the rubber drain hose is sitll in one piece. The exhaust wrap seems to be doing its job. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
You can move that hose to another location about 6-10" towards the driver's side. There is another hole to snap the plastic clip into for the hose. It's kind of hard to see, but you should be able to feel it with your fingers.
The drain hose coming out of the firewall does not want to move. I tried pulling and rotating it to see if it'll come out or break loose, but it doesn't budge. I guess I could try harder and see if it comes loose....but I didn't feel like doing that. I know what you mean about the other hole...but the hose only binds up if I try to rotate it so I just left it alone. With the car nice and hot, I can briefly touch the wastegate side and not get burned. I'll post pics of how the exhaust wrap has changed colors...to show how hot the turbine outlet side of the pipe gets.
Fitment did suck. But nothing a big hammer can't take care of. This is on a wagon with a gutted uppipe and Bosal cat-back. The exhaust note is louder and the exhaust rumble has been enhanced. On the wagon, the exhaust drone/resonance that I get while crusing on the highway is GONE! My butt dyno does register power gains and throttle response has greatly improved. On the boost gauge, I've noticed that boost pressure went up about 1psi. But the stock wastegate still opens up around 5000RPMS and drops it back down around 10psi. I guess it's time for a boost controller.
my drain hose has been in that same spot for over a year now with an unwrapped downpipe. no marks or anything on the drain hose i can grab the hose after driving and its just a bairly warm.
you can movce the hose on that ridge to the left. just take it out of the clip and rest it there. it will stay, trust me.
