Before coming to Japan, I spent 13 years in Minneapolis. I'm now in Kagoshima and just picked up a 1999 B4 Legacy RSK with only 56k km. The twin turbos are relatively common here, but mine is a 5MT which is a little rare. How JDM can you get?
So you live in Minneapolis for 13 years, and then move to Japan and feel the need to rub your Uber JDM twin turbo Legacy in all of our peasant usdm faces? Haha awesome I'd prob do the same thing! Sweet car though, I didn't even know they existed. How's the driving experience? Throttle response and power band? Does it have the same suspension setup as the usual Legacy?
The suspension is bilstein with aftermarket (lowering) springs. The car is supposed to have 280 hp stock, but I have yet to get it past 4th gear driving on these tiny congested roads. Maybe I'll have a chance to open it up soon. But it sure goes from 0 to 50kph (or about 30mph) real quick, tho
Nice! JDM as ****. Haha @TMF here is a little but more about the driving feel of these twin turbo motors and the "valley of death" http://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=10991
I had to remove some wheel spacers that were on the car, as I had little rubbing in the back with my new Hankooks (only when I had passengers in the back). It rides tight and low. But we have no snow here and no salt on the roads I'm pretty conservative when I drive, but this car is begging me to thrash about quite a bit - at least until I break something or get a speeding ticket.
That thing is awesome!!! I've seen pics of these motors when I was shopping around for an engine for my swap, but I can't remember if each bank has a dedicated turbo, or is it one spooling the other? Also you live in Japan, I need JDM parts....lets make a deal!
They are sequential turbos! There is a valve that opens up after like 4k rpms to spool the second turbo and the secondary turbo has a bigger turbine and doesn't have a wastegate. Pretty cool for sure.
This car must have had some retune, or perhaps because it is a 5MT, because I don't really feel this "valley of death" everyone talks about after 3k rpm. This car pulls hard from idle.
