I know this may seem trivial to you all but what is the purpose and benefits of re-surfacing the brake/wheel rotors? And how much should that cost.
How often do you thing re-surfacing is needed...........every time you change your brake pads?.......
i resurfaced a pair of stockers. seemed to work. i think typically you will find the price to be about 10-15 bucks per rotor.
I get my rotors resurfaced at checkers for 10 bucks each, most brake places charge about 20 each but I would resurface if you're tryna save money, and/or changing brake pads, sometimes the pads are worn, but the rotors are still good, just needs to be resurfaced
If they are not super grooved, I'd try the resurface before replacing because subaru rotors are kinda spendy.
If the rotors aren't warped and don't have groves in them, you can also take some heavier grit sand paper and just kind of sand them lightly.
What are you trying to do?? Remember that when you resurface the rotor, you are taking away material, so then your rotor surfaces are going to be thinner. That means they will heat up and fade faster. If you need rotors, I have a group buy going on them till the end of the month. Russ
we charge more cause we have to do all the work to take them off your car then put them back and pull off the calipers and brackets too.. that should be charged by the hourly rate... but most people complaiin about 10 bucks to resuface them as it is.. take them to checker if you have them off your car and a warm place to work.. if not take it to a shop... cause I know for sure they wont take them off your car for you then machine them then re-install them for $10 a pce.. if they do let me know whcih store and I will outsource all my brake jobs!?! resurfacing is NOT needed, but it helps by mating 2 brand new surfaces together for optimum braking performance.. problem is you are removing thickness from your rotors which tends to open them up to being more vulnerable to warping.... but if done by someone who knows what they are doing they will still have enough meat on them to be safe and ok... any questions call my store and ask for nathan - 9524030700
yeah, theres no way any shop would ever do 10 a piece if they were still ON the car. 10 is actually cheap for OFF the car, I think I paid 11ish a piece off the car WITH a nice discount.
OH yea, I forgot to mention, i was doing changing my breaks myself so yea, 10 bucks a piece, my rotor was pretty thick still, but the pad was really bad, almost out, and my rotor was kinda bad, so they resurfaced it for me, came out all smooth, put on new pads and yea, cost me 60 bucks all together
