my gf won this in a drawing, and is now wanting to sell it because it isnt practical for us to have right now http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ele/277098210.html
nowhere in the ad does it say best offer...so keep your offers to yourself (especially lowballers). This is a brand new TV that is selling under retail...i think i set a fair price on it...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...CategoryId=pcmcat95100050005&id=1134702498520 retail price...$1,799. The TV for sale is the exact same thing you'd get at Best Buy or any other place...in the box, never opened, being sold below retail. These lowballers arent gonna convince me
Why isn't it "practical" to keep a free tv?!? It's not like it takes up a bunch of space or anything.
I'm mostly just kidding. The reason is that you only had to pay taxes for the thing and everyone knows it. Most people who buy things know that who they're buying from stands to make a profit, in this case, you'd be making a heavy profit indeed at $1,400. Keep in mind that for $400 more I could drop the thing while trying to install it on a wall mount and just bring it back to the store and exchange it. So with that... $850
or not http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/146415/rpem/ccd/jsp/pdt/pricePopup.jsp people typically don't pay "retail" on these things, so you might have to work a little harder to convince people they are getting a great deal. That's all. Good luck with the sale.
Being that there probably isn't any extended warranty on it being offered through you, and lord knows where it was actually bought. It can be had for for $1200 online. Which has as much of a garauntee as you offer it. $1400 is no small amount for electronics that may or may not be working in 6 months. Especially with no warranty or garauntee from you or from the store it was actually bought from. Who wants to deal with the actuall manufacturer? Most stores don't allow the store warranty to follow different buyers. Just pointing it out. The convincing goes both ways. You haven't convinced me to buy it for that price. I'm sure you'll find someone to pay that much for it. But it won't be me!
Do not forget that any winnings are considered income so you have to pay income tax on it. If you get less than retail you still have to pay tax against its retail value.
well lets see...i life in a college party house with 4 other guys...its bound to get broken. My gf lives with her rents, and it would take up her entire room. She could sell it off and pay off her car and her tuition for this semster, plus have extra spending money for when we go to mexico for spring break. I think ill stick to my badass Quasar tv with a built in VCR thank you very much!
it comes with the manufacturers warrenty...and if you bought it offline, you would have to pay for shipping, which i have no idea how much that would be. Oh ya, and you'd have to pay tax on it. I dont get why me getting it for free has anything to do with the sale. Of course im making a profit, but you would also be getting it cheaper and wouldnt have to wait for delivery...you could pick it up today for all i cared
IMO...I think the TV is worth $1000, considering retail is around $1299-$1499. Getting it Free or not is not the issue...But of course when people know it was free, of course they are going to lowball ya...Stores have overhead and expenses to pay for...you don't other than storage space in keeping it there. Shipping is not a problem either, everyone can just visit there local circuit city or best buy and pick it up, just like how they have to pick it up from u. The saving is in the tax...$65-$100 depending on how much they buy it for. I'd almost want to say..."ask for the gift receipt" return it to the place where they bought it from and get store credit..If it is in best buy it will be $1799 in a gift card and do whatever u want with it or sell it for $1400-$1500 because everyone knows it is worth $1799 when they buy anything from the store...Basically Gauranteed $$$
ya...that woulda been a good idea. Looking on Ebay though, what i am selling it for is cheaper then all the auctions... We have gotten a few offers on craigslist and i just thought id throw the link up here to see if anyone was interested. But i guess no one here is...
I'm just saying. Those are things that I think about. Nothing wrong with looking for profit, just don't get upset when no one wants to pay it. The ease of mind is more than worth an extra $100-200 to me. Just knowing if anything goes wrong I can take it to BB, CC or Ultimate and get a brand new one is nice. Dealing with manufacturer's warranty sucks ass. LG isn't exactly a reputable electronics company either, it was Goldstar. Mediocre to Good at best, but not along the lines of Mitsubishi, Samsung, Panasonic and Sony. Doesn't exactly instill confidence that $1400 will be well spent. For the possibility of that kind of hassle it would have to be priced around $1k for me and thats on the high side...
In the sub 5k market Panny owns the plasma world in both quality and price. You can get a 50" from a reputable online vendor for 2100 shipped. It wasn't long ago the same sized PDP was 5 times that. Good luck with the sale though. I'd keep it. PDPs have come a long way.
