Just a heads up for everybody looking for summer tires. Bridgestone RE-01r tires are on clearance at the tirerack 205-55/16 = $85 each normally $120 225-50/16 = $77 each I'm guessing all the sizes are on clearance too since the RE11(I think) is coming out soon. I bought these for my miata last year and they are serious business. Ridiculous levels of grip.
I want a really odd size, so I'm not too worried about them selling out overnight. If they have it at all, they'll have it tomorrow
dang $104 for 225/45/17! That $2 more than I paid for my Falkens, last year. I would have killed for this deal back then.
They list the size i want (205/45r16) at $172 each currently :eek4: If they drop to ~1/2 that tomorrow I'll consider ordering.
Hmm... now I'm debating whether to go with these or wait and see if the (Dunlop) Star Specs go on sale in the spring? I've seen nothing but fantastic reviews on the star specs, but I've seen mixed reviews on these. :dunno:
Well, I know what I'm doing at 12:01 AM (their offices are closed). Maybe 11:01Am if they work on eastern time. There are better than the star specs for everything but autocross. Autocross, the star specs get sticky fast, they're the only street tire where the first run isn't a complete waste due to cold tires. The star specs don't really like heavy cars (defined as my 3355lb wagon) much, I got a lot of sidewall roll without massive pressures. I'm planning on using these as daily drivers 9once the snow clears) on my stock LGT rims and using my old cupped RE-01Rs on my SSRs as track/auto-x tires.
I'm also in the market for tires. Like Platinum Coan I've been lookin at the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. nm+ from what you're saying it sounds like these re-01 would be a better choice for a street tire then the Z1. Am I correct in that? I'm looking for a 225/45/17 to go on my BBS rims. I don't autocross but I'd like a summer performance tire. Something nice on the street that will give me some fun in the turns. Ride: '05 wrx wag I'm open for suggestions.
^ FYI: I picked up Falken Azenis RT-615s for DD fun in the corners. They are a good tire for the price ($102ea) and deliver what I want/expected. Being able to get the RE-01Rs ( a much better tire) for $2 more is just plain nuts. That is the same price as the RS-2s I believe. Hands down I would go with the RE-01Rs. If my RT-615s weren't brand spankin' new I would jump on this deal so fast.
Yes, they're quieter (well, before I cupped them), more comfortable (despite the firmer sidewall) and better in the rain (I very briefly had fastest time of the day on these at a MAC event after some rain until Salah showed up and ruined everything). I think they'll wear better too. $104 is insane on these. Having autocrossed the RT-615s in 3 events, I'll say that the RT-615s don't comapre to either the RE-01Rs or the Z1 star specs. These are as close as it gets to a R compound while still lasting ~10k mi (my Z1s lasted 7k mi and 7 autocrosses)
No need to wait. Add them to your cart, check shipping charges, and it will update with the clearance pricing. 265/35/18 down to $99 from $277!
orly? Sweet! Oh, awesome 4x225/45/17s for $475 SHIPPED Following the MAc thread, these will be out of stock in popular sizes soon. Mine are shipping from the Lousiana warehouse, the closer ones are all out.
Ok well I wasn't sure how cheap they would be for a set of 18's but they were cheap. I just ordered a set of 235/40/18's for $484 shipped! Just an FYI - the discounts are a little weird - normally a set of 235/40/18's are more expensive than a set of 225/40/18's. BUT, after the discounts the 235's were $20 cheaper per tire, so I decided to go with those. So if you are debating between sizes, check both prices after the discount before you make your decision.
True that^^^^ I just got a rediculous deal  Do you guys suggest the road hazard warranty? I have had good luck with the equivalent at discout tire.
That's 3-4 sets purchased from mnsubaru members tonight. Sitting at the computer all night was a great idea
Thank you MNSubaru, I also just ordered a set of 235/40/18 for $484.00. Considering normal price was almost a grand this is a SMOKING deal. NM+, see you at the autocrosses, I look forward to finally having some nice new tires. You and Todd will probably still beat me though.
I'll be one of them. If they screw me, I'll be looking elsewhere for tires in the future. They should have known this would happen.
Thier website still says availible. edit: Looking at thier website, they have tires in nevada. However, they're out of tires in LA. My guess is the delay is due to these issues. I don't think they're out of tires. (i hope too)
I am probably going to order a set of 255/40/17 for the front of the 240. Not to sure how these will mix with having RT615's in the back. To bad they dont make a 275/40/17
Evil, Evil, Evil. $260 per tire before, $139 after. Sold. The FXT will have some meat on the road this summer. Now to find rims..... Russ
My order has been shipped, this thread delivers! Suggestions on places to get them mounted and balanced? I've heard discount tire will match Sam's Club's price of $9.50 per tire if you ask them too. Not sure if that's true though; I haven't tried it...
The Alignment Guy... Also, I'm hoping I got in on this. Waiting on a call back from Luke. My 3-year-old, AutoX-and-Stockholm-cruise-abused RE92's hate life.
