Meat? Check Sriracha? Check Hot dog bun? Check [seriously though, why is a Vietnamese sandwich served on a French baguette?]
French influence "The independent period temporarily ended in the middle to late 19th century, when the country was colonized by France (see French Indochina). During World War II, Imperial Japan expelled the French to occupy Vietnam, though they retained French administrators during their occupation. After the war, France attempted to re-establish its colonial rule but ultimately failed in the First Indochina War." Taken from :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Vietnam
http://www.bunmisandwiches.com/about_mi The Bun Mi (Bánh mì) Sandwich was originally called the French Sandwich prior to their departure in 1954 from Vietnam. Only the rich were able to afford these gourmet sandwiches because all the butter, pate, and ham were imported at that time. After their departure, the Vietnamese learned the baking techniques, made smaller baguettes and incorporated Southeast Asian spices, herbs, and vegetables. When you combine that with marinated meats like BBQ pork, grilled beef, and lemongrass chicken, the Bun Mi Sandwich is a very delicious and affordable meal. I'll check it out next time I'm in the area.
What time? Fridays I'm done at 6, the girlfriend will be getting to my place around 6:30 and we'll be leaving then.
We'll make it happen brah. Probably like 7ish or so down there. Maybe we can line the street parking. I just sent an e-mail to the owners with a link to this thread so they know about the subaru onslaught. Lezbo's unite!
