We're putting together another group run if anyone is interested. The plan thus far is to meet at the track at about 4.
I'm only asking because there are 3 days till the event, and this is the first we've heard about it. This has been tried before and it turned out poorly.
humm......depends when on Sat....I'm available during the evening. Jason, it's just a date set... you show up you race.... no show... there's next time... it's like...."eh, wanna go race this sat? I go..."
Is this the one right off 13 by the Menards? I may be in, but I have to go get my helmet..... I DO have Friday off tho... PERFECT! I'll try to make it there!
"We" is really whoever shows up Last time we did this it ended up being a bunch of MR2 guys, Fuji and Lew. Of course Fuji kicked all our asses Don't think it was us that you tried it with. Mike Prow was the one that mostly organized it and it was my understanding that a good time was had by all. Hope you can make it, Fuji The plan is to run 3 sessions. Warm up, qualifying then a race. For the race we'll ask them to grid us up and as long as we can get 7 or 8 guys we should be able to take over the track. I think you've got the one I always find it by looking for NAPA's sign.
Sounds like the track will be available at 5pm. The plan is to do the same thing we did last time, run 3 sessions. 1. Warm-up 2. Qualifying 3. Race with a standing start. Let me know if you're interested in coming so we can get a head count.
5pm. Being there a little earlier wouldn't hurt so we can get going shortly after the party they have until 5 is over.
Well, my brother and I got there at about 5:20ish I think, not a Subaru in the parking lot... Inside configuration only. Anywho, did a few races...kept getting 2nd place, my bro seemed to really like 5th, lol. My best time was the thrid race with car 17, picked up a 22.551 with a top speed of 34.7mph and average 32.4mph. My bro got down to 23.286 by the third race using car 20.
Ack! Sorry we missed you guys. Failure in planning to not make it more clear how to find me, sorry about that. I was there at 5, I was the guy with the white NASA hat and the Road America t-shirt. bikerboy and his significant other and a couple of other friends of mine were there also. Nice times. My best was 22.609 in kart 10.
This track seems easier than the Maple Grove one...although I was driving the outside section too at Maple Grove. Hmm, couldn't have missed me and my bro...twins I'm not really sure what anybody looks like, so I can't really pick out any of you if I saw you, lol. We were there from sometime after 5PM till 7:30-ish, might have talked to you guys without knowing it, no clue. Probably would have talked to bikerboy about my bushings if I knew who he was By the way, if he's reading this, Rallispec is being really, really, really slow, and I'll probably get all in without trouble short the trailing arms and diff if they don't go in easy...
There were five of us. Four guys and one girl. We all had our own helmets if that helps. Did you go with someone else? best time 22:378 in kart 18
I got a picture of the other 4. I'll email it to ya if you want to give me an address. I'd just link it but I don't want to do that without getting approval from the subjects first I'm 5'10", and kinda heavy with brown hair that's getting shaggy and glasses. I was wearing a white Road America t-shirt with a track map on the back of it. Very nice time, Matt! You can usually count on #18 to be pretty strong. My second favorite I think is #10. Avoid #21 at all costs; the seat is way too far forward so it'll spontaneously oversteer if you look at it cross eyed. I bet that'd be a great kart for Fuji though
You guys were talking about Gran Turismo and the Mercedes SLK or something right before you raced, correct? If so, that was our third/last run. You guys were the only group we went with that didn't have a major crash/spinout funfest the entire time, lol. Our second race was bad. They stopped the whole race for a good minute or more just because a lot of people were being dinks crashing and not slowing down for cautions. It was a mess, lol. I raced with Fuji over at the Maple Grove one last fall sometime. I think it was only me and him that showed up... It was my first time with those carts, so I was putzing around a bit. Fuji was zipping around the track like a champ, lol. I think he was also running the fastest cart there that day too(from what other people were getting). I wouldn't mind going more, but it's a good hour drive up and it's not exactly cheap to race, still fun though.
Yeah, that was us We ended up taking a while to get all of our sessions in 'cause we were trying to cherry pick which groups we ran with. Our first session was mostly an exercise in passing and avoiding getting collected but at least no one lost a helmet in our groups. Twice I saw the same woman get into a crash and lose her helmet, the ditz hadn't strapped it on! In our last session I think it was Matt that terrified the 'mobile chicane' into staying off line Don't think Saturday evening is the time to try and set things up there. Tooo many people that haven't got a clue.
sorry guys I couldn't make this one. I had a family meeting w/ my siblings. But I'm glad you guys still had fun w/o me! heheheh If I can find my sheets from last time, I'll post up my time but then everytime is a little different. there will be more days!
I've been in plenty of prokart leagues and the karts consistency by number is completely erratic. Mostly what tires theyre on, how badly tweaked the frame is, how much brake pad it has and whether or not its running ok are completely variable from day to day. Even one hot kart for one person can be not so great for the next person if their body sizes, heights or driving styles differ a lot
Is there a cheap way to do it? Season pass, league, something less than the $15 or so per ride? ...just curious if there's more economical options.
Well, if you buy a membership it only costs $10/session on Thursdays at the Burnsville track and I think $10 on Wednesdays at the Maple Grove track. Other days for members it's $37 for 3 sessions IIRC.
