I just bought a 2002 WRX Wagon, and before buying it they told me it had a slow leak in the left cam seal. This will be my first car on which I will attempt to fix some stuff myself and learn in the process.

Does anyone have experience with this? Can a new Subaru owner like myself fix this? How soon do I need to fix it?

Thanks to anyone for any advice you can give me. This car is sweet.

if its the cam seal, yes its hard, if its the cam o-ring, its still hard, with the cam seal you'll have to take off the timing covers, t-belt all pulleys, and radiator, then get the correct tool for putting the new seal in and taking the old one out

Ah. That does sound like a lot. Is there a book you would reccomend that details the process for all types of repairs on my Subaru?

yea...thats right fuji...it was my car..lol...well. it did take some time but its worth it.. its a lot better now and i dont have to worry about adding more oil and oil burning off from my exhaust...when you have like..two or three days off...do it right then if you have all the tools and parts ready..i say you'll be done within a day..i took about two days...oil cam seals and a new/used clutch...but yea...felt better...and ran newer coolant...but good luck dude...

I have a cam seal siiting around for ya, And any help you need i can give. I've done tons of those on the 2.5DOHC, takes me about 45min, with my tools around. The 2.0L Turbo is a little harder than the 2.5DOHC but it can be done with no special tools.
