just wondering if anybody can give me some feedback on cams for my wrx. i know JUN and WEB make them, but just would like to know if anybody else is using either of them. Both are very expensive and would like to make the right choice.
i don't know much about cams but that i've yet talked to someone who did them. there are much better performances places to spend your money on besides them, ex. stage 4 w/ a big turbo, unless you have done everything else.

None taken, I don't personally know anyone locally who has put in aftermarket cams. I can't imagine they would be worthwhile unless you had some Spec C heads that could handily outflow the stock heads.
First off, I hope you have alot done to your car. You can do alot of stuff to it before you need cams. The stock cams flow pretty good, and just addding a port job to the stock heads is going to make a big difference. You should be in the 325-350whp range when you should start looking into some cams, or a 2.5 hybrid or something like that. Russ

This is a difficult choice. So let me cover some things here. Jun: very expensive but hight quality WEB: IMHO I would not recomend them as I have had issues with them in the past. They are regrinds and there quality control is horiable. I lost a motor because they did not pull the galley plugs to clean out the shavings from their regrind. This caused oiling issues in the head which lead to a shim being chucked and as Joel describes it "Massive syncrinzation failure" Next the AVSC issue: Your WRX does not have AVSC but if you move to any JDM motor with either of those cams you will loose the AVSC since the cams do not have to proper oil channels for that to work. I have a STI and need cams that work with the AVSC. So that limits me to OEM intake cams since AVSC is only on the intake side. As Russ said porting the stock heads is a good option. But IMHO it depends on your final goals. The JDM V.7 or 8 heads have big ports and flow lots more. A good comparison would be a ported WRX head might come close to flowing the same as a stock JDM v7-8 head. If you are interested in porting your heads drop me a line. I have done lots of porting. im glad u remember! i am getting a early start on my winter project. I am moving to FL this winter and would like to get my car done. I got my hands on a 2.2 block and also getting my heads done. ported with 1mm oversize valves and cams. tumbler valve delete and hone the intake manifold. its hopefully going to be done in two months.

Oops sorry, i havnt logged any pulls because not soon after i talked to you i wrecked my tranny again. and its been ripped apart ever since.
