I'd like to be able to use my AP as a "remote" odometer/trip meter for road rallies. Is this possible? If not I might put together a WP7 app to pull it via bluetooth odbII, perhaps as part of a larger project I'm considering taking the lead dev reigns on. I should add I can't find anything about this either on Cobb's forums or through extensive googling. It SEEMS like it should be possible given it can spit out a 1/4 mile time. If it knows that, then obviously it has what it needs to calc distance. I just don't THINK it can be done without having Cobb add it.
Not sure about the AP, but it looks like you could use the torque app http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Dials since you already seem to have a bt obd2 and presumably an android phone or iphone.
heh, yeah. I bought it because I wanted OneNote support. That was the deciding factor between WP7 and Android. Turns out the OneNote support sucks ass anyway.
That is a good option. They have finally hacked the new B&N nook tablet to run CM7. You can get the 16gb one for $250 or the 8gb one for $200, or go old school and get the nook color for $160ish now. Russ
No gps on those though right? Google search cheap gps android tablet and there a re a few reviews of under 300 options. A closeout previous gen archos tab is what I'm planning on running.
I'm going to through this out there. Why not a gently used android phone. You should be able to find a Incredible, Evo, or some other variation that is in good shape. Most have gps, should be able to run torque. Flash CM7 and you are on your way. http://mankato.craigslist.org/mob/2856329724.html or http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mob/2863361422.html or http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/mob/2860374902.html
I'm looking specifically for a precision odometer/timer. For frame of reference, purpose-built external odometers may be as accurate as 1/1000th of a mile. I'm shooting for 1/100th, or at least the 1/10th I get in the dash display. Basically I'm just trying to make it easier for the codriver to see the odo, even better if I can give thems omething more accurate. I was HOPING to stay with the AP as opposed to a separate, dedicated ODBII device so I could keep the AP in and use it for monitoring when needed. It might just be easier to do the junked android phone, torque and a bluetooth adapter for now and worry about switching devices when the time comes. There are ODBII "splitters" out there but the reviews are all lukewarm at best...
