Skid off the highway and took out a sign with me.

Happened in Rochester, MN on the intersection of 19th st NW and Valleyhigh dr nw going westbound. Was turning from 19th to Valleyhigh when the back end fishtailed and I was slipping sideways going northbound on Valleyhigh. Was gonna hit the lamp/pole but trying to save myself from hitting the lamp post, i hit the county sign instead, sideways. Car stopped in the ditch.

Both doors got damaged, widows, windsheild, my relatively new side skirts, and some roof damage. All on the passenger side.

It has been towed to a towing company yard and the adjuster is supposed to look at it next week. Now what's next?

Can i get subary doors? can i get get subaru windsheild? can i get an OEM sideskirt? there was no front damage and the insurance company is Country Fianancial. Full coverage.

They wont even give me a rental as i dont have that in my plan.. I have never been in an accident before so any help would be appreciated. thanks guys.. btw I am not hurt at all..

    a good goal would be:
1 to get the check from your insurance
2 find the parts used for cheap(nasioc)
3 use the excess monies to buy more performance parts

Hmm interesting.. The claims guy said that they will directly pay the body shop minus the deductible.

should i fight for a check?

    good idea. Yeah i will.

So what's a good paint/body shop around. I remember rskm1 suggested Auto Refinishers Plus. Should i take it there? would they get oem subaru parts or fixing is what the insurance company prefers?

the direct check thing is a pain. fireman's tried that when i got sideswiped a few years ago.

it's your car, your insurance. have them write the check out to you.

techinicly you can take the $$ and go to mexico for vacation if you want.

I just talked to the claims guy and he said that they can tow it to a glass place and have the windsheild done or they can take it directly to the body shop, unless they charge a per day amount.

from what i remember someone said that it is not a good idea to get the windsheild done from a glass company?? then who?

sorry as i said.. first subie and first accident.

a glass company would be probably hte only way to go, since subaru dealers dont install glass

Sounds like serious damage! Aluminum lamp posts are designed to break away. The typical road sign with the steel channel posts are not. Sometimes the lamp post is the alternative if you are going to hit something. Then again hitting the lamp post, if it were the aluminum type, could have lanuched you into a rollover.

I was more fortunate this morning going East on US 10. As I was approaching the stop light at Armstrong, I saw an old Bronco lose it and start spinning out. I thought he went into the ditch. Then the two cars ahead of me suddenly swerve out of the way and all I see are two headlights of the Bronco coming at me HEAD ON! I managed to maneuver from the left lane to the right. I still had enough traction to pull away from going to the right shoulder ditch. The other two cars went into the ditch. The Bronco went into the median. All this in a split second at 70 mph!

I don't know who else would do it; even dealers send their stuff out. I wouldn't worry about getting OEM glass, aftermarket is just as good if not better.

downside to taking a check yourself is that is the damage ends up being greater than the initial estimate (they find something else while they are doing the work or whatever) then you are on the hook for whatever the difference is. If the ins. pays the body shop directly, then they work it out between them.

If the damage was more isolated - just a door, or door + sideskirt I'd maybe try to piece it together from used parts or whatever. But with your roof/glass/etc I would just turn it over and let them deal with the whole thing. It could take you a long time to track down the parts.

Yeah looks like that is what is going to happen in the end. I cannot drive the car around with cracked windshield and the doors are so banged up that glass cannot be added to it. The guy did say that they are going to replace both the doors, rocker panel, windows, and get other stuff repainted. $5317 was the estimate.
Auto Refinishers Plus for body/Paint and City Auto Glass for glass.

Sorry to here you had an accident.

Tami took here Acura to Abra on 37th when the Meth Baby rear-ended us on Hwy 63. It's where a lot of the dealerships take theirs that don't have their own bodyshop. They did an exellent job.

Thankfully you had full-coverage insurance or you would have been fubar.

If there is anything I can do to help let me know.

I hope something good happened out of this situation. Something like a new, stronger car. ;)

    nope. :x

The insurance wrote a check in my AND bodyshop's name. So no way could i get parts on my own.

I did get the car back last night and looks like they have done a really good job. It took a week longer than expected but as of now, looks like they did a good job. I will be taking it to Richs' place so hopefully will not come back with a lot of damage. heh.
