So i was involved in a front end collision and the frame was bent back enough that it ran into the alternator belt. at this time the car was still running as i had to move it out of traffic, i head weird noises as well as not being able to steer very well. Do you think any major problems would have occurred to my engine?
I seriously doubt it. How long was it running when you moved it? We have had cars in the shop that have had the oil pan ripped open while running and were just fine.
Probably doesn't matter. I'll wager your insurance company will total it. (if the RS in your avatar is the car in question...)
not long at all. prob 10 secs moving the car 50ft away from traffic. but an insurance agent will come take a look at it tomorrow and see what happens.
Damn, sorry to hear! Hope everyone invloved is ok. Have any pics? If it was just the acc belt that got hit, probably no damage. If the crank pulley/timing belt took an impact then, yeah... I think Sneefy's right. Bumper, hood, bumper beam, grill, ac condensor, radiator, plus labor and paint is probably a little over half the fair market value of the car. Headlights, brackets, any bending at the frame horns, etc... will likely take it over the total loss value (80%?). Either way I smell H6 swap
PICS: pics dont do justice as to how bad it is. the hood bent back because of the frame and not because it was hit. the other person's car got nothing but a few scratches. thankgoodness the projectors are fine!
ended up not being totalled. Got a good amount of money to fix it and currently in the process of getting things together.
