Okay, my exhaust has a very deep rumble and people have commented before that it sounds nice, but it will vibrate their pants when standing near the rear of the car while at idle.

    so here's the story....

While taking off (slowly) from pepitos on chicago avenue heading south I heard a car alarm go off as I drove by. Seconds later I heard another go off as I was driving by. I didn't think anything of this since it's never happened before.

Four blocks later, still going south on chicago avenue I pulled up to the stop light to take a right. Sure Sh**, what happens? I drove by an old suburban and the alarm goes off.

I couldn't stop laughing once I realized what my car was doing. and I admit.....after driving a few more blocks I had to make sure my suspicions were correct so i turned around to drive by the suburban again. It went off again of course!

I seriously was going slower then the speed limit (30) and was not accelerating fast.

I've had this same exhaust set-up for a long time and this was the first it's ever happened. OMG!!:eek3:

anyone else have a story like this?

People need to turn down the sensitivity of there alarms. That is way to sensative.

I think my exhaust is louder than yours Steve...We should have a thread of whose exhaust is "the LoUdEr" haha...

I was able to set off some car alarms at the MOA parking ramp. Find the right rpm somewhere just under 2k and it resonates pefectly in there to set them off.

I set off the alarm on the tahoe that parks next to me at my apt in the garage. He is my namber so he turned the sensitivity down. But sometimes he forgets and away it goes. It is fun to because it pages to him that the alarm went off..

hehe, back when i just had a gutted muffler, i could set off alarms in the parking garages. I had a blast going up and down looking for people with alarms.

as for this loudest exhuast thread i like it, we need to find the person with the loudest exhuast, and maybe a seperate contest for the person with the loudest exhuast that hasnt gotten a ticket lol.

Yeah, that'd be fun. Maybe just do it at the next dyno day? That might be an easy way to keep the conditions constant. Now, who has a db meter?

I've set off alarms in ramps too. Again right around 2k rpm it's nice and deep and loud.

I don't know about the loudest, but was certainly near if not at the top of the obnoxious category. LOTS of holes and leaks. I loved winding out 2nd and 3rd cause a loud SNAP would reverberate back through the exhaust when I shifted. I loved it.

I;ve also set off dozens of alarms whether looking for a parking spot or putzing at 30.

We should setup a caravan through a public parking garage. Just idle through it at around 2k rpms till all the alarms are buzzin'

my 2.5RS used to set off every alarm in my parking garage. The association made me only idle it down there, i had to idle the car out of the garage every morning.

I would then open it wide up once I got outside =]

my old RX3 at 3000rpm was 112db back in Australia... it revved to about 8500rpm.... my girlfriend heard me drive all the way home from about 6 miles away.... my dad would hear me start teh car at a different girlfriends house 3miles away.. so yeah I wasn't popular with the police... We had a friend who was a Sargeant and he came to my house and told my Dad he saw my name on a whiteboard for cars to watch out for....

When I first built my wrx exhaust it had a Flowmaster... YUCK.... then I built the magnaflow system...

will post a video later if I can find it.....

we shoudl definately do this. a dyno day would be a good senario to hold the contest, but that requires that you get your car dynoed to compete. perhaps we should just do this in a parking garage somewhere :cough: MOA :cough:. I will be in once i get my exhuast back on in a week or two.

I love setting off alarms with my exhaust. It is so easy to do it too when you are completely catless. Driving around parkin ramps are hilarious...hearing all the different alarms chirping.

my sti exhaust doesnt set off alarms but when i was at firestone during car craft mine chirpped at least 3 times. I have since turned it way down. Right after it was installed the installation guy had it 3/4 up and rain and wind would set it off
