was looking for some input on car alarms. had a guy lurking around my car the other day and thought is about time to get a good one. I went to best buy and all they cary is "viper" the best one without auto start was the 350hv, would that be a good one or not? also if there are better brands that I should look into please let me know. Thanks for the input.

Viper is made by DEI. It's a decent alarm. Clifford is the step up also made by DEI. I just had a compustar installed as the auto start works with a manual tranny.

Call up MI6 and pick up that electric shocker alarm that james bond had in die another day.

Juuuuust messing with you. I would stop by ultimate electronics as they have a very wide variety of car alarms. They only carry the highest brands, including one that will page you if there is an attempt to open the doors, etc.

Don't go to Best buy or Ultimate Electronincs! Most of the people working there can bearly tie their shoe! I work at a smaller car audio shop in ramsey and we deal with Viper and Compustar! I have found that if you are looking to dish out a little more coin the compustar is well worth every penny. I'm sure hofit would vouch for that! I have that on both my vehicles and it works really well. IF you are looking for just a one way device i would stick with Viper or if you really like big box stores stick with a DEI product. Viper, Clifford, Autopage all those companys are owned and made by DEI. If you can't afford one of those don't bother setteling for something less. All those really cheap crappy units have a faliure rate of around 3 out of 5. IF you have any questions you can PM me and i should be able to answer them for you.

    Not exactly true KSAL.

I got mine at ultimate electronics. I bought the top of the line one without electric start. Has the lcd screen and the page feature if the alarm goes off. My power locks didnt even work when i brought the car in and the guy was nice enough to re wire them and they have been working fine ever since.

Check out Chop Shop Creations, they are an authorized compustar dealer, and I was recommended to them by Ray. They are very reasonable cost wise, I am having the 900fm pro series installed as we speak!

    :bs:

A friend of mine works at Best buy who used to work for Mach One in golden valley they wer a compustar dealer. He is MECP certified. Maybe the sales reps can bearly tie their shoe but not all the installers. I will vouge for at least 5 of them saying they know what they are doing!!!!!!!

As far as which one to go with, compustar is a great remote. PM Tinmasters or Steve O, there is one in burnsville and one in fargo. I am sure they would hook a member up. Not sure on that though. That is where I will be getting one on my wifes car and my car installed at!!!

I would be very interested. Can't say that I would be able to do it right now, but after the holiday I most likely could.

If I do anything it would be spring time...At that time it should be warmer and roads aren't as bad.

i saw somtin really cool while at work. Some guy had his car wired so that no matter what, the car wouldnt start unless you put the left blinker on. I thought that was pretty slick

Can anyone help hook me up with a deal another remote, my remote is pretty much dead on my compustar. I have the 2wss-as and I'm looking for the 2 way remote or maybe even a 1 way for the time being, since I have a newborn, cheaper is better.

BTW the one time I tested it I had a range of 4500 feet to my truck with the remote ( the alarm is on my truck) I think it was pretty darn good, it wasn't in line of sight and probably a good 100 feet higher than where I was.

Can you give us ballpark for the COMPUSTAR 2W900FM-S or 2W900FM-AS?
