Not going to whine, heres what happened. Parked in my garage around 930pm. closed my side of the garage and went inside. Neighbors in next-door town home never shut their garage so me shutting mine was really pointless Getting ready for work, went to car, Driver-side window smashed in. Radio taken, Glove messed up but workable and back seat torn out but easily replaced. Filed police report and actually have the serial # this time. Also, the CD/DVD/iPod/whatever else... has a password lock when disconnected from the car. So unless they know the PW, they got nothing! ha ? is, is there an alarm u can buy that will page u if something is going on with it?
I really just want one that will let me know to grab my golf clubs and run to my car to kick some ars
I have a Autopage that I had installed on the Integra for about $360 before tax. Its good up to about a 1 mile. I got the deal from Street Scenes Tint.
I would recommend compustar the new ones are awesome...They even page you where your car was broken in...*Window* L or R door... I believe its the 3000 series...not 100% sure uses a new tech/digital (Forgot the term they used) band instead of FM band (similiar to a radio frenqency)
Most of the DEI products are reliable and have pagers... like compustar. The actual range will depend heavily on where the antennae is mounted and the building materials and surrounding environment. For example, in my old apartment, with the FM band model, I was only 30 yards away from my garage but I could only chirp the alarm if I parked with the antennae facing the apartment. Even still it only worked most of time. A combination of lots of brick, power lines, and the factory windshield tint strip made conditions not so optimal.
Check this out, just did a search on Google. This seems pretty cool. And cheap. http://www.ecarsecurity.com/Galaxy-5100RS-Car-Alarm-p/galaxy 5100rs.htm
It even has a turbo timer so you can annoy your neighbors while burning fuel in a useless activity!!! I've been looking into "silent" security systems ever so often but rather than the radius version I want one that will interact with a cell phone to send a text message to me. That way while I am away for the week and leaving my car in remote airport parking I can call the parking place and have them check things out. I already use my old Sanyo MM-9000 with Sprint's family locator service as a GPS tracking device with my other WM phone. I can wire the old charger into the car battery somewhere discreet. Since it uses aGPS it doesn't need to have a good view of the sky in order to get a decent fix. I used it to track a friend of mine while we set up his surprise birthday party once
Not to thread jack but could you post or PM me more info on this. I want gps lojack, I have spare phones too. Also to the OP that suck man. Theives:iconpolice:
gimmefuel is a compustar dealer here in duluth, you could talk to him if your serious about it or if you dont wana come up to duluth hit up Tony aka Handcommand
I haven't found anything that works as both an alarm and tracking yet. My setup is passive so it won't warn me if my car is broken into but I can track the phone inside if I do find my car missing. You need a phone with GPS, or better aGPS so it can work without a view of the sky, and a plan that supports the tracking function. E911 service isn't the same. My old MM-9000 has aGPS. Sprint has a service called Family Locator that allows me to track that cell via the web or on my Windows Mobile phone. It isn't quite real-time but it works pretty well. Both phones are on a family plan to be able to track one or the other. I really only use it for the novelty of it. I can really see the advantage of the Family Locator service for paranoid parents/spouses though. Or maybe if you had a courier service and had to do the logistics on dispatching but I think there are enterprise solutions for that. There are some options for other cell carriers that don't have the service similar to Sprint's. They require Windows Mobile phones though. You may also be able to rig a very simple carputer with a PDA and a Bluetooth GPS receiver. I gotta think there are some sensors that would work with something like that, or maybe there is an alarm system that can interface with a smartphone?
