I was using Geico for about a year , then switched to Progressive and i got a discount on the premium. However, having been with Progressive for almost 3 Years now, my premium is being increased. I have not had any traffic violations and no claims. I got a quote from Geico again with now a 10 dollar discount. Wondering if they will also play the same games and later increase my premium after a while.

Anyhow what insurance companies do you guys use that seem reasonable to work with?

I have progressive and have had zero premium increases.

Not sure why they did that.

almost along the same lines, we had a credit card jump from 6.5% to 29%. they said it wasnt because of our history (which is perfect) it was just because of the times.

Maybe insurance is going the same way? (btw, we paid that credit card off and shut it off :) )

Did you move recently? Perhaps your credit history took a dip. MN's car insurance is actually heavily based off your credit score.

Been with progressive for 5+ years. I recommend them to everyone. Great price and great service (a couple accidents over the years). I'm currently at $100 a month for 2 cars full coverage which is the lowest I've ever got. A couple dings on my record, none on wifes. Credit is very very good for wife and I.

Didn't move - Speaking of credit, it should be a good score although i'm in too much debt that Kohl's won't even give me a $100 CC. Anyhow i might just have to call an agent and find out.

This is probably the reason for the increase. They feel its less likely you'll be able to pay your deductible if you have more debt.

I can't say for sure as I'm not in the insurance business.

I've been with Geico for 8 years now, made my first claim in Dec. I've never had my rate increase, and it actually went down when my insurance renewed two weeks ago, even after they had to pay out for my Jetta as a total loss. I got t-boned by a woman who ran a red light, and opted to just go through them while they fought Metlife, and her four accidents in three years driving record, all of which were her fault, including this one. Two of them were also running a red and tagging someone.
I haven't carried a deductible in three years, and my insurance right now is $85/mo full coverage on the RS. It was $99/mo on the Jetta. Mind you I have no tickets EVER, and also until recently never made a claim, including glass. I'll tell ya, my claim with Geico was seamless, they actually did what they said they were going to do in a timely manner. Amazing, I know.

I've been with Traveler's for quite some time now, and am only paying $90/mo for full coverage on my sti. Paid $150/monthly when I was with Geico.

I've been with Geico since 07' and my full coverage policy has been steadily decreasing since opening the policy...

I recently switched to Progressive after shopping around online. It was the least expensive and I'm saving a boat load of money compared to my previous insurance company. IMO, Progressive also had one of the best online interfaces, so I'm very happy.

I'm also amazed that Progressive hasn't increased my rates, considering my history, etc.

I've had Progressive for most of my driving years, and haven't had any issues with them. Very prompt and helpful with getting claims handled, and by far the cheapest out there. Currently pay $180/mo for full coverage, but that's due to a couple speeding tickets I still have on my record.

Does either Progressive or Geico try to get shops to use aftermarket parts rather than OEM? I'm shopping insurance right now with a broker that sells for a bunch of companies. I have had Farmers for many years and have been happy with service but am wondering if I am paying too much.

Every company will try to get aftermarket parts after a car is a certain age.

I have Progressive. Been in two accidents in recent years and dealing with them has been excellent. Also, their online document management is just incredible. And they seem to have competitive rates.

Progressive has given me the choice to use OEM parts. I'm self-repairing this time, and they still let me get the higher priced OEM parts - they tried to put 3rd party new part prices (which were accurate and reasonable), but I asked if I had the choice to use OEM and not have it be at my extra expense and they cut an extra check for the difference like that. They even said if I find more damage when I'm fixing it to call and they'll adjust the claim.

I also had aftermarket audio equipment get damaged by the repair shop in my first accident. I called Progressive and they covered that 100% too.

I call clerical error on this.

Insurance = legalized theft (Until your 25 at least.)

My renewal is coming up, and it looks like Progressive didn't know about one of my speeding tickets. So, now my premium is going up to $255/mo. After researching a bit, I found Amica to offer the best price, but I did notice that the premium keeps dropping when you increase the amount of your current bodily injury liability protection. I'm guessing it's some kind of sales tactic to attract people that have higher coverages? Would Amica be able to find out what my current coverage is by contacting Progressive?
