That's kinda high I guess for your age (old balls) and an apparently clean record. Haha
I will say that STIs and WRXs have terrible insurance rates because lots of spoiled rich kids get daddy to buy them a rally car and the wreck them like it's going out of style.
My driving record is terrible an mine is less than that but i have a 2007 WRX which is older and in a lower insurance bracket.
Although my 2011 335i is more powerful and more expensive than an STi and the insurance is less than my older WRX...
Talk to @MN3.6R he is my agent and doesn't suck ;)

You should make sure there isn't something on your driving record that you don't know about. A little weird that your rate would go up that much without something happening. Unless the original rate was a mistake or something. How long have you been with progressive?
I've had 5 tickets in the last couple years and I pay like $125 per month for the WRX.

Insurance is a game (like trash hauling). They keep raising your rates to see how much they can extract from you. Loyalty and longevity mean nothing to them. I was with Farmers for 20-plus years before I decided to shop around. Find a broker that works with 1 to 2 dozen companies rather than an agent that works for one company. The difference in rates will amaze you. Just be prepared to change companies in a few years again once your premiums go up. Also, it doesn't help that you are trying to insure "race car" and that young kids crash STi's at an alarming rate.

I would be happy to take a look at it for you. I work with 7 different companies(one being Progressive). The rate does seem high.

That's exactly what I did - found a broker who did the shopping for me. Although, they may charge you a $50 fee up front. I was able to cut my car insurance premiums in half while dropping from a $1000 deduct to a $500 deduct at the same time! I'm also saving $200/year on my home insurance with the exact same coverage I had with Allstate. I do have a few speeding tickets on my record, but nothing for maybe 3 years *knock on wood*.

    (I'm 29 years old)
    '07 STi - $65/mo - Full Coverage - $500 deductible
    '00 OBS - $30/mo - Liability only

I was paying almost 3 times that with Allstate (with a $1000 deductible)...

I have a '15 WRX and very similar 250k/500k coverage as you and I'm paying $87/month through AllState. 27 year old with 9 tickets from 2005-2009 and none since. (I also pay $22/mo for the same coverage on my 2012 GSX-750 that goes MUCH faster than I ever really should be)

I'm sure most of you know this, but for those that don't; insurance uses many different factors to determine your risk. The car, the drivers age and sex, your credit, your zip code and past claims and ticket history for the last 3-5 years. Insurance companies give many different discounts as well. How long you have been with you current company plays a big factor, the current coverage you have , ex: 30/60 vs 50/100, if you have 50/100 you will get more a discount with your new company.

32 yrs old - 2013 wrx with similar coverage and deductible and my home insurance, State Farm Insurance from an independent agent in Eagan, I pay a little over a 90/month for both. Unless you have a horrible driving record, progressive has always been more expensive than others when I've compared rates every few years. They were great when I was younger and dumber and my record was horrible, but once it cleaned up they were roughly 3 times more than everyone else.

Yikes. That's what I pay for my 03 wrx full coverage. It sucks. But I suppose that's what I get for being a week away from 21 and taking out a loan on a car. I have GEICO and live in the middle of nowhere.

    That seems high to me.
I am not a fan of progressive though.

My mother in law thinks they are awesome though.
Like when some drunk girl crashed her car into the mother in laws parked car and it was totaled. And progressive gave her less money (4 digits) then she paid for an identical car with considerably higher miles.

Or when. Y mother in law made a comment about her insurance and I discovered she was paying more for full coverage on a rusty 01 Monte Carlo that she paid $1000 for then I paid for $0 deductible on a 08 Prius and a 07 Silverado.

I think that's higher than I was paying when I had 4 cars on my policy (1 was liability only, 1 is comp only, 2 are full coverage)

I like how virtually all of the big players tout how much they can save you over the "other guys" in their TV ads. They must pick and choose very specific examples to get away with making a statement like that...or someone is lying.

I found it odd that I was able to save quite a bit (I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but it was well over $1000 a year total on all the policies combined) in changing from Farmers to Cincinnati. I had been with Farmers a LONG time, My wife and I each had probably one speeding ticket on our records, no accidents, I am in my 50's and she in her 40's, we have good credit (I don't know my exact score however), we live in Eden Prairie, and we had our homeowners insurance and umbrella policy with them. Cars are not used for business and neither of them are high buck machines...no kids at home either. Farmers agent said there was nothing he could do for us. The independent broker I am now with gave us quotes from four different companies and all of them were able to beat what we were paying. I did a little research and did not go with the cheapest one offered to us. We are in our second year with Cincinnati and the rates changed hardly at all. It will be interesting what happens the next few years.

I can't stress it enough...shop around. And don't get complacent (and just assume rates creeping up is an industry trend or due to inflation) and stay with the same company out of laziness or because the agent is a nice guy.

Usually the wording is something like this, "People who switch save an average of 15%."

Key is "people who switch", because only people getting a better quote than what they currently have will be switching.

I had been with Farmers for years as well....never questioned it, untilI heard what the girlfriend at the time spent....anyway, since then....I have been a shopper. I have switched every couple years since, as they love to raise them rates after a year. Im currently with a broker, and usually they are pretty good, but they are dragging their feet with this one. Ive owned about every car under the sun from 50's-2015 and no insurance has ever even come close to this car.

I also did leave a message for MN3.6R....hopefully he'll get back to me.

Im due up on the 30th.

Yeah that's ridiculous, I'm a former agent myself, I'm 31. I pay just over $500 every 6 months for my 2005 Legacy GT through Geico. I specifically bought an LGT Wagon because I knew the rate on it was significantly less expensive vs a WRX or STI.
    500,000/500,000 liability
    500,000 PD
    500,000/500,000 Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists
$100 Comp Deductible including waiver of glass deductible
    $250 Collis Deductible
    Towing
    Rental Reimbursement

Not sure about my discounts, but I don't have any other policies with Geico, and that's usually what gives you the largest discount.

Who else in your home drives? If you have a kid in your household that drives, they'll cause a huge rate increase. More people on the same policy for one car will command a higher rate. Where do you live? Certain zip codes demand higher premiums, like being in the city vs the suburbs. It all has to do with who/what/where has more claims, and these things fluctuate over time, this is why rates increase and decrease.

Got some help from MN3, and oddly enough he got the best price from Travlers same as my broker....BUT....His was cheaper! I little over 1300 for the year. as compared to 890 for 6 months.

So it begs the question, what the hell. Insurance is completely drunk....go home.

    Try esurance.

I was with Progressive and shortly after getting my 2015 STI the price sky rocketed. I was able to cut my 6 month premium in half. Same limits however a lower deductible with esurance no less.

    3 cars, similar coverage

    2012 Escape, 06 xB, 03 WRX
I manage with < $600 every 6months. It was $469 for the other two before the WRX was added.

Progressive, but I also have just about every discount possible with them. Multicar, multipolicy (moto), and some other bits.

I do like progressive for letting you quote changes like where you live, other drivers, and other cars without pulling the trigger on the change.

I used to pay $1100 a year with Traveler's. Got my 2013 and now I pay close to $1400 a year. To those folks who have Geico/State Farm/Allstate check Travelers. $2000 a year is way too much for these.
Even though my rate went up, still cheaper than anywhere else. I have a very clean driving record. I got one speeding ticket about 10 years ago and that's it. Im 32

well thats your problem those coverage's, i would hope a person that hit me had coverages like you...im paying what you have for a 2002wrx! full coverage with half the coverage. Perhaps they have reviewed performance or there was not enough infor previously when you first insured your vehicle. Ive heard rumors like that ...mainly that insurance companys will make policy changes per driver data and general info about the vehicle who knows hmmmm

The wife and I just switched from Allstate (which I've had for 10+ years) to a local place/guy. Saving about $600 a year and the coverages are about 5 times as much. Seems rather ridiculous.
