Car might need some Body Work after Hail Storm

Well went back to my in-laws to pick up my car after the storm... along teh road I start seeing white thigns all over the place... as I get closer I see they are getting bigger and bigger... I arrive at my in-laws to see the whole yard looks like a mushroom field with golfball size hail stones and the occasional tennis ball sized ones...

the pics of the hail is after they had sat for about 30mins... so yeah fricken huge...

Now I am waiting on the insurance adjuster to look at it... hmmm color change and some body kits might be good.... wonder if that dent in my TURBO will need upgrading ha ha ha


amazing thing is the hail storm hit about a half mile wide strip.. and my in-laws place was the worst I could see hit...

also pic 6 I think is a pic of the back parcel shelf... it broke the shelf after going through the window....

Looks like the whole body has damage. Do they replace all that or? I know the car is worth way to much to total. Man that stinks.

I work at KSTP doing desktop support. I saw Nathens pictures and brought them down to Justin's attention. He got some great shots, just to bad his car had to suffer for them....

Only thing I can say is I wish that would have hit the roof of my house so I could get the shingles replaced.

mine got a little damage we only got about inch size hail here. Not as bad as yours nathan

Wow! That is huge hail. My guess is that they will total the car. You may remember but my car got hit with quarter sized hail a month ago and the total estimate to date is over $4k and the car still isn't fixed. Most of the work was paintless dent repair but PDR couldn't get the dents in the A pilar and hood out. And thats just quarter sized hail with no glass damage. Your car looks much much worse than mine so it will most likely require old school body work and that is $$!

On the plus side, you could buy it back from the insurance company for very little and turn it into a rally beater! Sorry about your loss. It sucks!

 

ah... nobody was hurt... cars can be fixed or replaced... If they cant fix it I hope I can upgrade to an STi... my buddy is trading his back into the dealer soon of a lease so that will be a good one as he hasnt modded it... though I LOVE the bugeyes and dont really like the slant or hawkeyes....

Well if its a fix thing then my DC shoes paint job may come to fruition... woohoo....

I think you might have a total loss on your hands depending on mileage. I would definatly look into the buyback from the insurance company because its usually SUPER cheap and you could part it out and make some more money. Sorry about your car though, I know I would be very upset if this happened to mine.

 

Sorry to see that. I threw my Prelude and STI in the garage when I saw that stuff headed my way.

 

well I am hoping it will work out for me to get an upgrade.. if not I will be twisting the shops arm next door on qouting the job a little higher so I can then do some thigns I wanted...

if no STi then it may be a new paint job.. either a color change or a DC shoes theme

am changing out rims tomorrow in case they total it... and soem other thigns out of car like access port etc... until I know whats happening...

^^ its a car man... it sucks.. I have had it since 900miles... but it is just that... a car... no-one was killed trying to protect it or anythign so no big deal..

well the panel shop next door came over and took it... will find out next week what the verdict is.. they said if water got into the dash it may have been a write off... man should have knocked some holes in it and wet it down... ha hah I want that STi... but anyways he thinks it will be repaired but we will see as I said I dont want it bogged up....

well I got a little over $4000 worth of damage... I have to replace the hood.. which leads me to this question...

I am not convinced about a carbon fiber hood but what you guys think about this one....

 

I think that it would look ok, but did you see that the bumper matches the hood.

 

i like it, as long as you dont hafta have that hideous grille thing

what I need is the pros adn cons of having this hood on ALL year round as opposed to the aluminum hood??? as I cant find a stock hood so far online...

 

well they sent it out to do PDR adn they sent it straight back with a "we cant do that on that car".... mostly due to locations... ie frame rails over doors where it is double layered etc.. so now it will be re-evaluated and price adjusted... more money more money....

well went and looked at my car to see if anything is happening.. and they have 90 of the bodywork doen.. they are waiting for a NEW roof skin to come in....
