Ok guys, I just finally got done putting my engine in and have it started. As i start the car to warm it up the car is quiet as it should for a stock. But as it is in the stage of warming up when I look at the temperature it goes beyond the half mark which I know it’s not normal. And yes there is coolant in the engine and in the coolant tank (Preston). And while the car is running i noticed that the car has no heat what so ever. Any advice of what I should check or change? It would be appreciated. Thanks
sounds like you have a big air-pocket, let the car run till the t stat opens, (fans come on) and shut the car off, it should burp it, then add more coolant to it
start the car with the radiator cap off, it should burp out the buble. Then add coolant until its full
i do this everyday doing coolant flushes...if it doesn't burp it up right away gently squeeze the radiator hose going from the top of the radiator to the engine and it'll help it come up
yep, I find "hand pumping" the system using one of the radiator hoses is a good way to make sure you've got the air out.
sorry to sound like a newb but i have no radiator cap. So i take it as to disconnect my radiator hose and birb it. So is that correct?
If its a WRX, pull the cap on the tank by the turbo on the back left. There's always a cap on the highest point of the cooling system. EDIT: And the no heat issue is probably an air pocket in the heater core. This can be a bit more of a pain to get rid of, but burping the system should help it.
Follow the heater hose on the driver side of the engine back to firewall. Somewhere along the way there COULD be a big grey cap in the middle of the hose. This is designed for "burping" heater core. If there is and you do crack it...beware, it;s like a radiator and could spit hot coolant out at you. But Gran0393 is correct. He has seen me "pump" a TON of radiator hoses and have to add more coolant. Although I wasn't aware that he could coolant flushes yet....you b itch! Had I of known that I would do all the ****ing flushes that we do!!!
also you can give the engine some minor revs.. like 3000rpm then back off... (once warm) that will help the water pump to pump harder, then circulate the fluid and air bubbles...
hahahahah TRUBLU i have been certified to do radiator flushes for like 3 months now...i do 3-4 a week...yeah the radiator cap is on the pass side kinda on the back corner of the engine and the heater core is on the drivers side somewhere back there (i'm not sure exactally may not even be there but hey)
well it seems your the only one who didn't know i got certifies...everyone else just makes me do em all the time any luck getting heat to work?
