What ever happened with the Car of the Month contests? Is that something we can start back up again? I'd like to shamelessly oogle over some of the cars we have floating around the site again.
Again I demand a recount, I have had plenty of cars in my short life most of which have had a short life as well... that is until I bought a Subaru.

All that is needed for bringing back "car of the month" is a Mod that has the time to make it happen! Brian used to do it, any other Mod has the same capability. I vote for Dean...he's enthusiastic and very involved with the site daily. Don't mean to throw you to the wolves Dean.lol Just talk to Russ about it and i'm sure that we could have this going again for February!

naw, tried the DD thing with the lgt. Even she prefers the 4runner most days. If they didn't break all the time I could work on my own cars lol car of the month suggestion... most broken Subaru... although I don't think anyone has a chance against Carl in that category. That was some spectacular carnage.

lol, from around tha co-nah. Not saying that you're the guy to do it, just saying that you're pretty motivated. ANY mod can start the COTM thread tho.
And back to the original question. Ted used to do it every month. Once his job priorities changed, he had to step down from taking care of everything. From there, none of the other mods picked up and ball and ran with it. So to continue on, we need a mod to step up and take over, or find someone else that wants to dedicate the time and effort to put everything together. So if someone wants to dedicate the time to creating the threads, collecting the pics, creating the polls and taking care of everything that goes along with it, just let me know. Russ
Thats I will lay it out here so anyone else that might be interested will also see what is involved. Come up with the theme for the month. post theme and guidelines for the month collect photos until deadline create a poll so the members can select the entries close poll, declare the winner and hand out prizes if available start all over with new theme for the following month That is about it in a nutshell. There are probably a couple of other minor things I may have missed, but this is all the major things that need to happen. Russ
Car of the month might be too frequent. I'd say just do a featured car that stays up until the next one. Run out of cars too fast otherwise.
How? Seeing as how at best we'll have 11 (since 1 month is already down). I don't really see any need to limit this.... why not try it? If people stop submitting pics then you can limit it or make it bi-monthly. There is no reason to see the glass half empty from the start. What "didn't work in the past" (because that is a common cop out on MNSubaru) isn't a good logic to use. There are new people using this forum all of the time. The traffic is 100% different from when I was a mod 2 years ago... which was when this was last going on. Just saying... might as well try.
I should clarify.... I think things are taking a good turn in the forum community! Lots of events coming up/going on. That stuff is awesome. I am not trying to be negative, you guys are doing things that sort of fell off the map in the past. I just want to see that motivation continue. Thank you.
I'm glad to hear you're fired up about the idea of bringing it back. I haven't been around long enough to know or be jaded about however it did or didn't work in the past. I want to see it work in the long term. If you're going to try, might as well set yourself up for success. Maybe there are a lot more cars with owners interested in having them featured than I think. I can't come up with much more than a years worth. I'd be more inclined to start with longer intervals and shoot for trying to get up to monthly. If it happens, great. If not, you get more life out of it. It's not so awesome to have your last "feature" be a year+ old. Also, it's kind of like the Olympics. It just wouldn't be nearly as interesting if it was every year.
I totally agree, it doesn't have to be on the dot every month... but trying to run the contest every 4 - 6 weeks would be nice.
I'd be willing to run this if someone tells me the format and we decide on the frequency. I'd even be willing to offer a free photoshoot for the winner each time
Ben that is awesome! I vote that we let a "member" run it if he is willing to stick with it. Not only can he run the contest but he can also offer a "prize"..... that is pretty cool. Ben I know in the past we have used a theme.... for example Snow. Your picture has to have something with Snow in it. Another cool one was pets.... I think 3ric had one with his dogs that won. You run it, I say your rules. But that is must my opinion....
Maybe shoot for quarterly? Car of the quarter!! lol. Every few months would make both Surly and tha Spunk happy!? I alwasy thought that monthly made it harder to submit photos and whatnot. .02
