This past Monday, while heading to Fleet Farm in Brooklyn Park to pick up some oil for the boat, there were a bunch of "modded" cars on 81. An older Tiburon and a Ford Probe revved and down shifted next to me trying to coax me into a race. At the stop light, in an effort to fit in with them, I rolled down my windows, cocked my hat sideways and blasted some random hip hop radio station. While driving back home, I saw that there were a lot of cars and motorcycles in this design center parking lot. Is this some sort of car show? I've lived in Brooklyn Park the last 5 years, and I swear I've never seen this before.
Is it kind of over by Super America & Wendys is off 81 by the intersection of Brooklyn Blvd? If so, I think I came across this a couple of weeks ago too. I was winding around back roads trying to find my way home from work since 169N was down to 1 lane. I was on W. Broadway where it connects to 81 and I saw all these cars in some random parking lot. They all stared me down as I drove by. Sounds kind of like the same crowd.
Honestly? If we had a big enough group go regularly to make a little dent in the "culture" going on there, I'd be game... once I have a reliable car.
There is a group of local volvo guys who are trying to attend that regularly, I've also heard there are some nice cars there from time to time. I forget what they said were the majority of makes there.
There is usually handful of nice cars, some well sorted out muscle, the occasional exotic. It's more of a people thing than a car thing. I went a couple times and just walked the rows looking at the cars. The "culture" they're fostering killed it for me.
They are raising up the stancetard, driftard, don't-worry-your-rusty-honda-is-still-a-showworthy-car, skinny jean flat bill 19y.o kids talk **** to older folks and think they can get away with it, bought not built, multi-colered wheel, follow the person who is loudest not smartest culture.
Pretty much. Lots of people trying hard to nail every negative car enthusiast stereotype possible, as efficiently as possible. The rub is I'm willing to bet most of them are only doing it because they think that's what they're "supposed" to be doing.
