So I came back from work to find my car broken into. Looks like they tried to pry the door open and failed. Left a nice dent and some blood. Smashed the window to pieces. They stole my alpine deck. Tore apart the center console. Left the cash that was in the armrest? and didn't take anything else. Not real happy about the whole thing. Minneapolis cops told me to file an on-line report (a true sign of the times). So there goes my insurance deductible. I'm wondering how they are going to handle the aftermarket deck replacement? that is all...
So, there is blood (evidence) and the PD simply ignores it and tells you to submit it on the internet? Wonderful. It's time to buy a gun for the house.
Better yet, buy a gun for your hip. I can't believe (really I do) that people spend the time to steal a car stereo these days. Good luck.
Street value of stereos are pretty crap these days lol Some people just have no life, hope these f'ers all diaf
Happened to me about 6 months ago too... They got an Alpine deck, and a GPS unit, Insurance bill was nearly $1200. My insurance just asked for model numbers and had me new units in about 2 weeks. They also payed for re-install at Best Buy.
Not sure, I thought there may have been a camera around. Maybe we need old school Blaupunkt pull out stereos Macgruber style.
I rock a stock deck. Nobody wants those things. Hey, it does alright, even for a $12,000 when new car. CD/MP3/WMA/XM. :hsugh:
All. Thieves. Must. Die. This thread just made me think about a story that was in the Star Tribune a couple weeks ago. A dude on a bicycle was run over by a delivery truck and instantly killed. They soon found out that he had just stolen the bike a couple hours earlier and still had the bolt cutter in his backpack when he got squished. Done.
Hard to feel bad for the guy on the bike. I had a camera and bag stolen around Xmas last year in a parking garage with cameras and the guy told the cops the don't record any video just watch it live. I'm guessing they are in on it. So I was left a -1000$ and some hood rat probably got a nice camera out of it for Xmas. Should go back to cutting off hands for theft.
I'm going to see if I can get two quotes. One for the exterior and one for the interior. I'll let them fix the exterior and take a check for the interior and go from there if I can.
i had the same thing happen ealier this year i had someone cut open my soft top to take the POS deck out of it, i told the insurance company what deck it was (even though old) they gave me the brand new price for it and i got a much better piece for it. i hope they got alot of money for the JENSEN deck LOL now im rockin a kenwood DDX 7 series that insurance paid for!
Well here's how it worked out. They cut me a nice check on the spot for a new deck and install fees and told me to get what I wanted. Then they took it to the body shop and went over all of the things they are going to fix. We agreed that they would fix everything but the deck (they are going to put everything together and just leave the top din open). They gave me a $300 adjustment because I told them that I would allow them to leave some nicks on the interior door card plastic instead of replacing it. So my deductible is reduced from $500 to $200 and I will hopefully have some change after I replace the deck too. I should get the car back in a week. Thieves are really dumb. The punk was very confused about the Subaru door glass NOT being enclosed in a pillar. They tried FOUR different locations to pry the door open before finally giving up. So all four areas surounding the glass need to be fixed/replaced.
