Dunno if it is. But check all your ignition system. Distributer cap, etc. With a good ignition system you should be able to burn bad fuel. Not well but it should.

If it cranks- it is turning over. If it won't start, it's not firing.

Could be spark plugs, plug wires, the coil, the fuel pump, or a dozen other little things. Crank it for a minute and then immeadiately pull a spark plug, if it's wet with gas you will know that the fuel system is working and then it's down to spark.

You should check CAM/CRANK sensors. Make sure it's FIRING by removing the spark plug wires off 1-by-1 from the coilpack and cranking it (have someone crank while you watch).

Just don't make sure that you are part of the grounding point for the plug.:laugh::laugh:

<--- has shocked himself before on smaller bike engines, lol

cam and crank sensors were common on older subies, they make a cam and crank sensor kit for under 100 bucks

typically this is not just a SUBARU specific problem.. cars need a couple of things to run... spark and fuel.... 2 main basics...

if you have power and it cranks but wont fire.. then you need to check for spark.. if it is getting spark then you need to check for fuel... turn the key on.. check the valve on the fuel rail.. press the nipple down and if it sprays out fuel then you are getting fuel pressure...

then check the sparks plugs and see if your car is getting spark...

if none of these then you need a little more then online diag
