here's the story...I filled up my gas tank and tried to start the car. It was turning over for about 5-10 seconds before it would catch. After it started it was running really rough for a bit, then I got misfire codes (there was two or three different cylinders but I forget which, one was definitely 301). Then I reset the ECU and had no problems. An hour later, I got CEL 457 EVAP system leak (gas cap). Checked the gas cap and it was tight. Reset ECU and all was fine. Somebody suggested that CEL could be related to the fuel tank seal, though I haven't checked it yet. A few hours later, I filled up my tank again and had the same problem with engine not catching, then I get CEL 301 again. It goes away, but 546 EGT and 457 EVAP come back. So I will... 1. Check the gas tank lid seal for CEL 457 2. Try swapping coils 1 & 3 to see if it's the plug or the coil for CEL 301 3. What about CEL 546 4. other suggestions?
You might want to list out the mods on the car as well. Does it have an uppipe in it? Has the resistor mod been done? As I said today, change your plugs and move the coil pack. I would also change the fuel filter since you had that starting issue.
mods - turbo back 3" exhaust, catless UP, 660 cc modded injectors, Walbro FP, DB 20G, Perrin turbo inlet, SSAC TMIC, snow meth injection (75% methanol), one step colder copper plugs. The resistor mod has not been done, but the map I'm running should have the that CEL blocked out, CEL 546 I think. I also got a CEL 171 System Too Lean. I noticed that at idle, the engine almost dies. AFR are hovering at around 20! Driving the car feels fine, though I may be hearing an exhaust leak from under the hood. I'm on my way to inspect the underneath now. Would a preturbo leak (like a loose EGT sensor) cause high AFR? I'll get back with my under hood examination...
The map was from getadomtune.com He's seemingly done a good job, no knock, good power, great price, but I don't know enough to be critical. Got some news. The purge valve was disconnected. I was examining it right before I got the CEL 171 and probably knocked it loose. So I put that back on securely, with some little spring clamps. That has solved the idle problems and I imagine CEL 171. But that still leaves my misfire after filling up at the gas station. Unless it was disconnected all along. Matt, do you remember the purge valve hoses being connected when you looked under my hood? I'll do some more driving/logging and see if any more codes pop up or anything looks funny.
