I've been rolling on these Gram Lights for a few years now, and while I've had three sets of tires and two paint colors on them I've still never had center caps. I feel like it helps to make them look a little more lightweight/purposeful but at the same time a little rough and unfinished, which I'm not a fan of.

The two options I'm looking at for original RAYS caps would be either these:

Or these (supposedly "black chrome" so I'd think not as bright in person):

Or I could just leave it like this:

What do you guys think? Those caps are like $120/set so I'm having a tough time deciding if it's worth it or if I'd even like how they look, or which ones would look better. Black would match the wheels but I'm not real sure on the design. I like the blue accent on the other ones but it's hard to say how bright that "black chrome" would be and if they'd look alright.

I agree with this. The blue would be cool as long as it matches.

I like the blue! So are we talking $120 for all 4? That’s crazy expensive for some caps. That’s what happens when you get nice wheels instead of bRotas like the rest of us poor bastards. Lol

Yep, about the best price I can find on them is anywhere from $20-30/each, cheaper ones usually with shipping added.

Yeah, looking at them again i think the first design is better. Lower profile and the blue doesn’t take away from the blue lettering that’s already there.

I think I'm leaning that way for the same reasons, and from what I can tell it looks like those black ones were the original caps for that wheel too. I like the accent/logo placement on the blue ones but the rest of the cap looks a little goofy to me.

So...what happened to the original ones?

I could live with either one, although the first one looks easier to keep clean.

I remember losing one off the VS-XXs early on. New ones were like 80-100 bucks each. If you could find them.

I'm not sure there ever were any original ones on them. Apparently center caps are an additional extra option for RAYS wheels...

Little, sleek, black and sexy. Oh, are we still talking about caps?

That was the initial idea, but we can change the subject if you need to "threadjack" it, lol. But yeah I think the first ones might be the way to go. Probably just going to wait until eBay does another one of their 15-20% off everything deals. They seem to do that every couple weeks or so.

Went for the black ones, found them on Rallysport Direct for less than anywhere else (eBay or otherwise). Should have them in plenty of time to sport them on the LaX cruise

Got my center caps delivered already and snapped them on, pretty tight fit after the wheels being powdercoated and then painted. They still went in alright but I ended up with a slight dent in the center of one. Pretty happy with them, don't think I would've liked the other ones as there probably would've been too much contrast. Screenshot_20180817-174628_Gallery.jpg

Lol, same thing happened to me after I uploaded the pic. Sometimes still can't get over how awesome it is, two cars I love and they're both finally getting the mods and upgrades I've always envisioned for them. Almost surreal standing there seeing them both in the driveway. Speaking of which, I found an adjustable aluminum bracket setup for the '64 that should work for the throttle cable and return spring. Had to get some longer carb studs today and going to try hooking it all up tomorrow. I'll update my build thread after I spend some time on it and see how it goes.
