I know i can take it to the Dealership to fix this issue... but I would rather give my money to someone here.

Does anyone know if / how to turn off the factory lock setting for my car when it is running? I want to be able to lock my doors when I warm up my car in the morning. I know this won't stop a normal thief from taking what they want... but it will stop most kids from jumping in my car and taking off. Currently I just sit in my car and wait for it to warm up, but I wouldn't mind sitting in my house and waiting for it to warm up. I am wondering if this is something that can be changed via the laptop and a cable to the ECU? Perhaps by one of our local tuners?

I asked about this in my 07. The easiest way to take care of this I found was to install a remote starter. Heh.

Yours is a CANBUS ECU, tho. Hopefully they changed something to allow you to lock your keys in the car.

Yeah i would assume that it can be done with a laptop.. because the dealership can program it on/off. Just wondering if anyone knows how!?!?!

This is not something that exists as a defined parameter within the open source ECU definitions. So no, it cannot be done with the open source tools.

Cool, I understand that it might not be defined in the tuning program. It still is something in the ECU so it can be done... i just wonder if there is anyone here that knows.

if dont use the auto lock button and just manually lock the door it works. So when I warm the car I only unlock the drivers door, turn car on, and then flip the lock and shut door. Works fine for me, I just cant use the lock button because if the car is running it just unlocks itself.

I have no idea how I missed that option. I tried the lock button and the fob... not just manually doing it. I'll test it out tomorrow. Thanks.

Just make sure you only unlock the drivers door. or you will have to manual lock each door before your car is actually locked

Update: Never would have thought that the answer would have been that easy!

Step 1: get in car and lock all doors
Step 2: turn on car and back out into driveway
Step 3: manually lock door when going back into warm house

** Make sure you have a key to open the door back up, the fob will not work!

Thanks for point out the simple solution StanmoXt

I was wondering this too, and I never thought of manually locking the car either. Wow, sometimes it's the simplest things!

I have one of those split-keyring things. I put the mail, house and work key on one side and the keyfob and car key on the other side. You could do the same and have a second key on the split half. Take it in with you in the morning. Put it back on the keyring when you get back in the car.
