I recently acquired a titanium STi shift knob for my WRX... and I am curious about how to install it... I can get the original removed from the shifter itself, but getting the skirt off seems to be a little tricky... Any hints/guidance/or "duh" advice would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks a lot! Julian

Let us know how you like it. I like the factory one, but have thought of getting something else recently.

    Thanks, I will try that!

I felt the same way too, I love the stock leather knob, but I am ready to try something different for a while.

Yeah I have the titanium sti knob and it is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Other than that I like it.

I switch back and forth between an 02 leather knob (winter) and silver Kartboy knob (summer).

Good thing you just "feel" faster, if you had said "omg my car is faster" I'm afraid I'd have to bitchslap you ;)

I put a Cobb shifter in my car. Feels much better over the stock OEM piece. According to Cobb, whatever material it's made with is prone to not overheat in the summer? I'll let you know come June/July when my hand is burning. Colder then the outside temp during the winter thats for sure. Other than that I love it.

Wait... the knob DOESN'T make the car faster? Crap. Oh, and I found a solution to the cold part - solid pair of mittens.

Better, sportier solution... the tangledupinblu solution... An ipod nano soft case and a ziptie.

    Yeah I was bummed when I didn't get an extra 15hp... .. ....

Oh and the mittens are a given, even better.. the hobo gloves with the mitten top that flips on or off.

As promised, here is my update: a few weeks have gone by, and I must say that I am very happy with the titanium shift knob. Although it gets cold, it also heats up pretty quickly, and gives a sportier feel to the ride. I love it!
