Both these lights are on now that I have installed a downpipe and an exhaust system.

Question #1: Should these lights disappear when I get the car tuned this thursday???

Question #2: I also noticed, but not sure if in conjuction with the above Light question, that only when shifting into 4th during a Mid to Strong acceleration that there is a little grinding going on at times. What could this possibly be and does it have anything to do with the recent modification made???

Car Info.: '06' WRX 2.5L with 34K miles on it, only MOD is what is mentioned above

    I appreciate the Help!!!!!!!!!!!

The blinking cruise control is just another thing to notify you of the CEL(s) your car has -- and more than likely they were thrown due to your new catless exhaust.

haha or check you gas cap. That usually happens to Outbacks if the gas cap is not tight enough.

I do not have any engine management on my car right now....In fact I'm very new to this stuff and not to familiar with what engine management is....I was told that I could do the exhaust and get the tuning done/ECU reflash and I should be fine...

Yeah. Aftermarket exhaust, especially without cats, will 100% of the time give you a CEL. Get that EM done asap, and you'll be fine.

well someone said the syncros, but make sure you're taking your hand off the shifter. I always catch myself lingering....

#2: Yes, does sound like a problem with you syncro's. Does it only happen in 4th gear? No, it shouldn't have been affected by your recent upgrades. Unless, of course, you've been dumping the clutch, mis-shifting, power shifting, etc.

What are syncro's??? It does only happen in 4th gear....I have dumped the clutch probably 6-8 times since I have owned the vehicle since it was brand new and I definitley am guilty of power shifting from time to time.....

In reference to your question # 2...

I'm having the same thing going on right now. I did a bunch of research on NASIOC and Club WRX this weekend. If you go on either and do a search for "4th gear grinding" you will find a lot of information.

Lots of opinions but most sway toward trying the Uncle Scotties Cocktail of gear oils for your tranny. One bottle of One Liter of Syncromesh, one Liter of Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear oil and then a liter + most of another liter of Castrol Hypoy C. Again...get on NASIOC or Here and do a search on "Uncle Scotties Cocktail".

I've got the stuff on order and hope to give it a try in the next couple of weeks.

A (relatively) new transmission shouldn't grind. Putting a band-aid over the problem (ie, Scotty's Cocktail) isn't going to fix the root problem.

My bet is on synchros. I would suggest taking it to the dealership and hoping it will be covered under warranty.

I didn't actually mentally note that this was an '06.....my bad.

My $0.02....I think it's even stretching it to refer to a tranny with 34,000 miles on it as "(relatively) new". It's only 2,000 miles away from being out of the base warranty on the car....so I would definately take the suggestion of taking it into the dealer.

Yeah for sure check the dealership. My car does the same thing. It seems to be only in 4th gear for everyone. But i plan to just change mine with some 07 STi ones if possible! (bikerboy lemme know)

I never had any problems with mine until I had the fluid changed. Before the change I could shift into any gear with ease. After the first change it shifted like dog doo from 2nd down to 1st. About a month ago I had it changed again. Now it is golden from 2nd down to 1st but grinds a little in 4th. If I press in the clutch and move the lever down toward 4th and then ease it in it won't grind...but I really have to focus grasshopper.

I'm gonna try the cocktail just for s's and g's.

Well it sounds like per you Subie Guru's that I should check with the dealership to see if they will cover this.....I hope they will cover this being that I just installed the exhaust 2 days ago and it should be obvious that it is not the cause....We'll see....Thx for the info Dudes!!!!!
