Well I would probably go get it checked out. Checker will scan it for free. But if you dont know what the code means it really isnt going to help you. And no its not a maintenance light

You'll need to see what the CEL is, for sure. Bad gas can even throw a CEL. Everytime I filled up at a Super America in Litchfield, I threw a P030x (x = 1-4) code.

Whatever. You can get bad gas at any station.

Twice from BP I have gotten gas so bad neither vehicle would run. The first was my Kawi 6R. White smoke was coming out of the exhaust and it went less than two miles. There was more water than gas in that crap. And the second time, a different BP, I could not keep my SHO running at all. Ran like it was out of balance and ready to throw a rod. Same situation, tons of water.

Premium is purchased less so it sits in the tanks longer where moisture can accumulate. Stations are supposed to have filters and such, but really your best bet to avoid bad gas is to use a station with lots of vehicle traffic to ensure fresher gas.

Back to topic, lots of CELs are emissions (not performance) related. Did you tighten your gas cap?

But you sound like you need the help of someone more knowledgeable.

AGREED but ive had the best luck at the bp...i guess maybe if you can find some 92 non oxy (alot of bp's carry it) sounds like your car has ALOT of problems...perhaps a trip to the dealer is in order

I am going to go out on a limb here, but with the elleventymillion problems you have had, I would go with the front o2 sensor. Sorry if anyone thinkings I am flaming someone...... The front 02 sensor could also fix half of your other problems. All the rear o2 sensor does is check for cats (p0420), and iirc the 136 is for the front.

we had a pontiac in here (a friends) and we pulled an 02 code... of course the grumpy old tech figured he knew what it was and threw an EGR and IAC at it...

Symptoms.. run like a dream... but when stopping at lights.. it would rev then stall...

guess what... it was teh 02 sensor and it had been replaced previously with a cheapo aftermarket one... Go get an OE sensor...

needless to say I am pissed at my senior tech for being lazy and making me grab my ankles on that job (someone had to pay for the useless parts he threw at it - even though it needed the parts they werent the issue)

the car was not totally thrashed when i traded it in. I'll admit the only issues the car had when i sold it were a clutch that was begining to slip and the random misfire cel's that most of us are accustom too.

many people on this forum are aware that the car he bought was my old car and just because he bought ebay parts and put them on the car and now doesnt have any money/has neglected to correct anything that has gone wrong with it doesn't mean it was a pos when he bought it or that i had beat the piss out of it and dumped it.
