I started to drive to work today and my check engine light came on and was flashing. The car would shake and lurch. Now the car seems to being running alright, but I get a solid check engine light and my cruise light is flashing. Any ideas as to what this would be? I haven't had the time to go get the code pulled so I'm not sure what it is.

Sorry if this typing sucks, I'm doing it from work on my phone.

What car is it, and how many miles? Shaking kinda sounds like a misfire problem. How old are the plugs? Could be many things though need to get that code checked!

Sounds like a misfire, roll on down to Autozone and see what code it throws

It's an 05 rs with 64k on it. I will have to wait till the morning to get the codes pulled. It seems to be running "fine" now. Anyone know if oreillys can check codes as well? There really isn't an autozone anywhere near my house.

Or someone with a tactrix cable can scan it.

99% sure it's going to need a coil and wires. When Subaru went to that style coil in 05 on all the NA engines, they turned to crap. I've seen them go bad as soon as 9K.

Yup. Indeed, wire set is around 79.95. coil could be 152.05, or more, there are two different coils for that year.

So, I didn't have time to get the check engine light pulled before work. And now it has disappeared. Could this be caused by all the rain recently? And if it is, how could this be fixed?

For some reason misfire codes on Subaru's disappear. It will most likely come back, and if it does, get it fixed or you will be in need of cats.
