6 model years?!?! So a parked 6 yr old Porsche with a value of $40,000 can get towed off of a public street and sold, huh? Seems like theft to me. Those bastards and Ace Auto need to get sued.
Wow, I had no idea they could do that. I guess if my car ever breaks down I'm never leaving it on the side of the road. They really need to change the laws on that though... especially when they're taking the cars off of private property sometimes.
Is there anyone here willing to step up to contacting other car forums (preferably forums that they have some clout with) to make sure they are aware of this. Then some how getting some sort of action or lobbying or something done. (i.e. awarness, petitions something i dont know gov't action)I mean this is no million man march but there has to be something that a group our size combined with a few other forum sites can do. Especially when some of us here are completely submerged in the local auto industry (not saying that any of us work for ace). I feel bad for raising that question since I have no idea of what to do next, but yet I feel something could and should be done. This seems to be a definite loophole that people are using to take advantage of others. An injustice for one, is an injustice for all.
A good first step would be for people to contact their state legislators about this. Find out who represents you here. Then send some emails or make some phone calls. http://geo.commissions.leg.state.mn.us/districts/start.html Here's the contact info for the governor. http://www.governor.state.mn.us/contacts/index.htm
Good thing they didnt find Bielke's car in Zumbrota after the problems he had on the LC cruise. :eek4:
Tow companies have always been crooks, its no new news. Average release of a car from their lot after its towed is around $200 even if its only been there for ONE day
