if you have rented from the hollywood video kiosk before you'll understand how it supposed to charge you. Well apparently they were having issues with some machines and it wouldnt charge your credit card when you rented. This is where my issue lies. Apparently the kiosk i was using has not charged me for anyone of my rentals, it goes all the way back to december of last year and now they have decided to charge me all at once. It turned out to be a fat 200 dollar bill that i was stuck with, i wanna know if its even legal to do it. My argument would be that when i rented they never told they were going to charge me 6 months later.

It is legal for them to do it, as long as you get an explanation in the mail as to what happened, why it happened, and what is being done to prevent this in the future. They should also offer you options to pay for it, such as mailing a check, or taking it all out at once.

BUT this doesn't seem right, you didn't get any explanations, did you? I'd call them and demand your money back, or an alternative payment method.

i called and the guy at their customer relations center was pretty helpful, but all in all he said what you said its totally legal. I just didnt want to take his word for it. Still a pita though, to be charged 200 out of nowhere.

Uhh you rented the videos right? How are you being charged out of nowhere.
Nothing in life is EVER free. What they did is 100% legal.

For a situation like this they should send an invoice instead of charging you like that. However, they can charge as long as they can prove the money is their's to take. If you need to float it a bit longer you can report it as an unauthorized transaction to your CC which should buy you 60+ days or so (it can be less too) to find the money.

i dont mean it as that. i expected to be charged already. I didnt expect them to hold there charge for 6 months and then say hey we forgot about charging you so we just did it today. How would you feel if you went and got a dyno and slid your credit card expecting it to charge right away and then 6 months later i find out that my cc machine wasnt working rite and it never charged you so i decided to charge you then. Zap! 200 out of your account. you'd probably be pretty pissed.

i woke up this morning and there were 24 charges stemming from them for various amounts. no bill sent to me. i called and they said they had issues with there kiosks from last december. Now if there were issues like this with a product why would you still let people use it???
