just wanted to post here before craigslist/carsoup, so here goes-trying to get back in the subie community.
    1997 audi a4 2.8 quattro, at
    -96k miles
-dark black metallic/cream leather(forgot the name of it), with wood trim
-transmission flushed and filled last year
    -oil changed every 3k miles
-new spark plugs done last week (bosch platinum +4)
    -new wiper blades (bosch icons)
    -power everything (windows/locks/moonroof/driver's seat)
    -heated front seats
-pull thru ski bag in middle of back seat
    -exterior/interior motion alarm
-alpine cd/mp3 player/alpine ipod adapter (hardwired so plays and recharges battery) in glove box
-tires at about 80% tread left
    flaws-
-just a few minor door dings on sides/back (10 year old car)
little oxidization on side mirrors (guess it's common on the heated mirrors)
-odometer flashes a "In1" code, just a service reminder
-small rock chip on front corner of hood
so yeah, just seeing if anyone here would be interested in this before i post it elsewhere.
here's some pics, will post some interior/engine pics if anyone is interested.
    looking for 8k.

Excellent cars. I remember test driving an Audi A4 V6, A4 1.8Turbo, and an Audi S4 TwinTurbo. All manual trans. The 1.8T sucks but the S4 has BIG torgue(250HP). I would recommand the A4 V6, AT or MT is great. Almost bought one b4 i got my subie. But yea Audi's are very conforable cars.

cool, going to get the oil changed either tomorrow or tuesday. thanks for the replies on here, really want to get back in the subie community. if nothing pans thru, you'll see it up on carsoup this next week.

-looking on craigslist, ya won't find any for the price. ppl are insane on there. 7.5k for ones with around 130-160k miles. 2 on there with 90k plus miles for around 10k--waaay too much. i'll wash it up again and take some pics of the interior/engine bay. probably going to use an orbital on it this week as well, hopefully.

    more pics for ya.

here's some more for anyone that's interested. just got done doing the mother's 3 step finishing on it (pre wax cleaner, polish/treatment, and carnauba wax). looks pretty good now, probably going to be full of bird crap by tomorrow again tho :p was dark out by the time that the interior was done, so sorry if they're a little bit dark.

i believe they used the same from '94 up till '01, that one called the b5... then in 02, it got an overhaul..think they went to bigger motors and dual exaust instead of the single dual tip.
here's a link with all the info you'd need for research.

did you find out about the waterpump/tensioner and timing belt? On an audi thats a pretty big selling point.

I have a friend interested. If it has been done, I'll refer the car to him.

Edit:: and skubi1. It IS called the B5. There are a few differences in the motor before then however. For instance, the 2.8 in the older A4's was a 2.8L 12valve, otherwise known as the VR6 from the GTIs and Jetta. In 97 they went to the 30valve 2.8. Difference in about 20 hp, and much smoother/more refined performance. (Also upped the cost of maintenance slightly)

yep, the one i have is the 12v, at least according to the haynes manual- and i'm still trying to find someone to peek under there and see if those things were changed. i'm not very mechanically inclined, but trying to get there. i'll go and check the belt when i go to work and post later.

k, i'm going to the dealership to have the 95k tune up done and the ignition redone, so i'll see if i can have them look at those things to see if they're new(er). was going to keep it and throw on a pes g2 supercharger, but they don't make those for the 12v, only the 98+. so, i'll post again tomorrow with what i find out.

update- went to get my 97k tune up today, and they checked the pump/timing belt and the other stuff on there, and they said from what they can see, it's been changed out. they said the only way to be sure was to get the records from the previous owner, but don't think that k2 kept the records either from them or from the previous one. hope this helps out, otherwise, going on carsoup after i detail the interior. thanks for the interest here :D
