It looks like an autozone special edition Civic. Maybe they needed the car to go faster so that people wouldn't be able to see how ugly it is.
Just what the F&F kids needed, a supercharged cavalier. You can put as much bread on a crap sandwich as you want...you are still eating crap.
It's only competitor is the Neon. No one else is dumb enough to make FWD cars with that much power. :-p (Oh wait.. only 205 HP? wtf?)
OVER RATED-Sport Compact even admited that due to the large 18" wheels it compromises it ablility to be a high performance car, along with some of the stuff it shares with the Saturn. The bodies dimensions do resemble a lot like the Civic, and I'm sure they are trying to gain some of those buyers. Even the Kia makes a car that resembles the WRX. lol
Yeah, Sport Compact said the thing went from 0 to 60 in 7.1 seconds and ran the 1/4 mile @ 15.3 seconds and 94.5 mph. This is Chevy's answer to the WRX and SRT4??? Go back to the drawing board......

The supercharged engine in this car and in the Ion Redline is under-rated like how the STR-4's engine is. I wouldn't mind a test drive. Hey, it's something new to tweak and tune. Don't ya think so?

I'm watching for the arrival of the mazdaspeed6 in April. AWD, manual, turbo (274 horse, 280 torque).. sounds interesting.. I hope it's decent.. or at least fun to take on test drives :-p
I am in no way bashing domestics, I love American cars. Z06's, Cobras great American cars that deserve praise but what I think Chevy did here was put some big wheels on a Civic look a like and try to push it to the ricer crowd. God forbid if Chevrolet tried, I know if they wanted they could come out with something competitive in the forced induction 4 cylinder market for the same price. That's just my opinion, no offense to anyone who thinks otherwise.
Not to change the subject or anything..so what other cars are about this range that could possibly have potential? Subaru WRX Dodge SRT4 Chevy Cobalt SS Acura RSX Type S Saturn Redline I think these are the cars that are suppose to be in this range..the Evo and STi don't belong in this class, that's why I didn't list it.
In my opinion, which doesn't mean jack squat, the WRX and the SRT4 outclass the other three mentioned cars. I know those two win in acceleration for sure. Handling may go the RSX but I have no numbers in front of me. Basically what my jumbled mind is trying to put out there is, in terms of total speed, handling and price the SRT4 and the WRX own. I've never driven the Saturn Redline or the new Chevy but just by reading the numbers and reviews it sounds like they pale in comparison.
actually i just read an artical in car and driver, and i guess the guys at sport compact dont know how to drive...car and driver got a 6.0 sec 0-60, and a 14.8 1/4....not as slow as you guys thought, that 0-60 is near wrx territory, not to rag on subarus though...i think the cobalt deserves a little more respect then its getting
Well, it is apparently light years ahead of it's Saturn sibling. From what I have read, it is an ok handler, but a little short on the power considering the competition. Face it, Chevy is not going to produce another "limited audience" car. The Vette is that player and that is all. This is indeed a car to compete with the Civic and it's competition and most of those drivers focus (no pun intended ) more on daily A->B driving. My $0.02...
