Personally, I think they should've offed this guy long ago. Anyone who goes after kids like that doesn't deserve to spend the rest of their lives in jail. Hell, I'd take care of this guy personally and save the state and Federal government some money.

That is a ludicris ruling. People who can do things like that to children do not deserve the right to live.

I saw this and thought the same, but then I thought about how badly he would get treated in jail, for the rest of his life.

Eitherway, rapists should have their peens cut off before anything else happens to them.

what we all forget is even if the guy is killed (JUSTICE) that the poor child is scarred for the rest of their lives....

but what do you all expect... most people are too liberal and want everyone to be equal, and treated humanely, forgetting that the animal that did this is just that an animal..and should be taken out and SHOT LIKE A RABID DOG!!

Yeah, i think he most likely deserves death penalty, but if i play devils advocate i think you should not take a life away from someone as long as he/she did take anyones life. And another thing is that if they start killing people for rape later they will want to kill people for some other "minor"(not that rape is a minor crime, it sure is not) crimes.

If you want to look at it that way Taras, those people who do get raped are getting their own lives that they know taken away from them. Their lives will never be the same again because of some sick minded prick.

Save the jail space for thieves, drunks, and junkies.

Yes and No. He raped the girl but did not kill her. There are many women that have been raped and they recover from it with therapy and friends. The guy will go to prison for life and suffer more than if you just kill him.

Speaking of thieves, drunks and junkies in prison. More than a half of the people in prison right now are there for selling crack that was totally set up during the failed "war on drugs" campaign, that was targeted to discriminate against African Americans(i am not claiming that this is all true and i am right and you are wrong, this is just one of the theories and will will never know what the true intentions were). And there a ton of people in prison right now for pot which is ridiculous, we are all paying for them in prison just because they were selling pot. So what i am saying is that drunks junkies and such need to be treated for their "sickness" and not put into jail to rot.

just my opinion on this, you have your own and its fine with me. Your opinion is just as good as anyone else's and its not wrong by any means.

yeah, i never understood sentences that are like: 150 years in prison or three life sentences. This guy should be put to death most likely, just because i dont feel like paying for his 3 meals a day.

I should have been more clear, a junkie is not someone, at least in my terminology, who smokes pot. I agree with you 100% on that.

A junkie being someone who uses the ol' heroin, or meth excessively and/or sells it. Marijuana is being decriminalized across the nation, in MN you can have up to somewhere around 42.5g and get slapped with UP TO a $200 fine. Nothing more.

That whole African American, crack vs cocaine thing is another issue. I think it was somewhere along the lines of getting more jail time if you were selling crack vs cocaine. http://www.sentencingproject.org/Admin/Documents/publications/dp_cc_sentencingpolicy.pdf

Again, I should have been more clear, people with multiple dwi's should be put behind bars as well. If your up to 10 dwi's I don't think the programs they are putting the person in is helping. Straight up sobriety, cold turkey, hard jail time does the trick.

Now the public intoxications and things of that nature, **** who hasn't had one or more of those ;)

i agree with you about multiple dwi's and such. However i completely disagree with you about people doing Heroin going to jail. One of my best friends is a heroin addict. He was clean for 4 years and was finishing his premed this spring, he was too stressed out and slipped and started shooting again. He had to sell his car and take out a loan to go to hazilton(sp) for three weeks(26 grand!!!), he got a scholarship that paid for 20% and his insurance paid for 75 percent of it. He is a very smart and nice guy, but he does have an addictive personality, thats just how his brain is wired and his drug of choice was heroin. Everyone in his family has addiction problems but they are all different(alcohol, drugs, gambling). So this is a sickness that needs therapy and medication and lots of friend and family support.

thank gawd I'm not in charge. I'd personally revert back to the dark ages and torture people like that in a dungeon, hurting them over and over again for years...and years...and years.

    Death = Easy

My way = you wish for death, but never get it.

    thank you, that is all

I have a friend who got caught running multiple lbs of meth across the country. He is in jail right now and said if they would have put him in a treatment program, he would be doing it again in 6months. He told me that being in jail really gives him a new outlook on things.

I'm not against drug programs, if they help, that is great! The repeat offenders, need to be locked up, IMO.

Edit: Or give them a taste of their own medicine, at a lethal dosage.

do you know what they do to people in prison.......that are child rapists...those guys i there tear those rapists to pieces....so many of them get killed and tortured in prison, plus any security guard will let things "slide" with a child rapist more than anybody else...don't get me wrong i would love to cut off finger by finger toe by toe excruciating torture to those ****ers, but they aren't just getting off with a prison sentence.....

Did you guys hear about that pregant woman that was locked in a basement, starved, beaten with baseball bats, tortured, and then killed by a family...ALTON, Ill. — Banished to the basement, the 29-year-old mother with a childlike mind and another baby on the way had little more than a thin rug and a mattress to call her own on the chilly concrete floor.
Dorothy Dixon ate what she could forage from the refrigerator upstairs, where housemates used her for target practice with BBs, burned her with a glue gun and doused her with scalding liquid that peeled away her skin.
They torched what few clothes she had, so she walked around naked. They often pummeled her with an aluminum bat or metal handle.
Dixon — six months pregnant — died after weeks of abuse. Police have charged two adults, three teenagers and a 12-year-old boy with murder in the case that has repulsed many in this Mississippi River town.
“This is heartbreaking,†police Lt. David Hayes said. “It was almost as though they were making fun of the abuse they were administering. This woman was almost like living in a prison.â€
Investigators put much of the blame on Michelle Riley, 35, who they said befriended Dixon but pocketed monthly Social Security checks she got because of her developmental delays.
Dixon saw little, if any, of the money, Hayes said. For months she weathered the torment to keep a roof over her head and that of her year-old son, who weighed just 15 pounds when taken into state custody after his mom’s death.

We should be able to skin those a-holes, id go native american on their ass(Nothing racist by that..specify:a certain tribe that scalps..I'm a minute part NA myself)

Legalize drugs and remove the attraction of surreal profit. Addicts will find some other ways to kill themselves.

its human nature to be attracted to something you shouldnt do, have, ect.

when I was 16/17 I started smoking cigs just because I wasnt supposed to. as soon as I was 18 and could get them by myself it just wasnt "fun?" anymore and shortly after I quit.

pot is a different story, bottom line is I think its a good idea if the govt legalizes it. say joe schmo the thief wants to go steal someones plasma tv, but say he "gets a lil high first" now joe schmo is watching re runs or drawing on ****...
it will make the govt profit if taxed, hell it may help the economy as well?

    Yes, **** the 8th Amendment.

Serious punishment doesn't matter if the criminal doesn't think he'll face it either because he doesn't think about getting caught or thinks he won't get caught.

Excessively harsh punishments have never worked.

don't get me wrong. when I made that statement I was in the mind-set of not caring about the big picture. I know there's little out there to eliminate crimes like this. However, that doesn't dicount MY desire to do as I stated.....slowly toture people that commit crimes like the OP mentioned. Right or Wrong...I don't care. Eye for an Eye in my book.

We have rules in this country. One of them is against Cruel and unusual punishment. The highest court in the nation decided that it is against the rules to allow the death penalty for rape. That is the way the system works. But it seems that when the same court applies that logic to say Gun Control, everyone is ok with it. I am confused.

because a gun doesnt just decided it wants to go bang and kill people... to stop gun violence you would have to eliminate idiots.. which would be half the nation!!! and this is a punishment after teh fact.. so by your logic you dont punish the guy who shoots someone but you stop him by taking away his gun, hence likewise we stop rapist by taking away anything to rape??? no you are confusing me

Not really true. Not nearly to the degree that most people think it is (and they usually think so because of TV, movies, rumor, etc.). Certainly not very true in MN.

    +1

Given the current legal system the process of carrying a death penalty through ends up costing in the same neighborhood as incarceration for the rest of one's life.

i believe it depends...if the person can be cured of this disorder (because it is a disorder) then they should have intense psycho therapy...but if they cant yeah you should put them to death..

child molesters have this problem mostly because they were abused as a small child and think its ok to do what they do to them..but..in reality its not...however theres many reasons it could happen..it can be a power thing to...its just more common that they were abused as a child
