started working on the universal header for the kits chimera will be making. this is a twinscroll equal length header that will have two different up pipe variations. one that will be a rotated mount and the other being a fog light location. the collectors will have a divider that separates them for no cross flow. it also works with both wrx and sti oil pans. still waiting on some flanges to start on the up pipes but this should give you an idea of waz upppppppppppp! son!

    yes!

C'mon... some of us can't rotate a turbo due to some regulations, but would still like the benefits of a true EL header

i am always open to doing a custom up pipe. but its not something ware i would spend the money to sock the flanges and what not. when the kit comes out let me know if you are interested

which is kind of a redundant response seeing as to mount to SUBARU product you are pretty much copying their flanges ha hah a

Using already availible parts is smart in terms of a manufacturing sense. Less new stuff means quicker time to market and less cost. Plus, gaskets are easy to come by. These are all considerations when trying to make and sell stuff.

Gaskets are still going to work, we are still using the 3 bolt subaru flange. Go ahead and try to find them already manufactured at a good price. Making our own is going to save us a large amount of money. FYI we saved over 50% on some that we have found...

You'll have that. Low production items are going to demand a premium. Money is wasted when stuff like that hangs around in inventory for a long time.

I imagine you're having someone bang a bunch of them out with lazer cutter or waterjet. I wish we had either at work. Life wouldbe gravy at that point.

It is nice that you'll be able to use a widely availible gasket that anyone can get at any Subaru dealer.

the hole point of this kit is too make it clear every thing so you need no added products to make it work. like a sti oil pan, oil filter relocation kit ect... heat wrap is thin. you will have no problem there.

That looks sick matt. Good work.

PS, I was at a meet a weekend or two ago, where a guy started talking about "some white sti with a turbo mounted in the fog lamp". I pointed at my plates and said, really?

They thought it was the craziest thing ever, and I figured I would pass on to you, that your fan base has reached the west coast, almost all the way to mexico with where I'm at.

well that is what he said... I suppose the answer would be yes then......

those who can, do (build) . Those who cant either buy or pay someone to build it!!

either way there is a lot of work and time into this setup.. if you think if a shop that builds it has a shop rate of $80 / hr and it takes maybe 8-10 hrs of labor to design, weld and finish for mass production... half his cost is just building it without materials...

hence why a business doesnt spend 20 hrs building something and selling it for $100

the market right now is from $700-$3000 just for the header. most likely chimera will have a local or a introductory rate to get some kits out and see how it takes to the market. but cant promise anything right now because its too soon to tell. still building it so.. im sure chimera will post a real detailed thread ones it come closer to offering to the public.
