did some work today in the basement so I could plug my laptop into a phone line at my workbench and go online. so I thought I'd take a couple pics of my setup and share:

that's WagonL's EG33 harness on the left, plugged into his EJ18 harness on the right behind the computer. With an ECU pinout and full engine control diagram taped to the wall, and the chilton's manual propped open to another diagram.

    and my helper:

now, I just need to hook up some speakers down there, and then I can crank the tunes.

haha, nice....I'll see what I can do.

I should also mention that just to the right of the wiring, is the remains of piddster's old tranny, a 3.7 diff case, pinion, and ring gear, and a pair of Teraflex revolver shackles. :yumyum:

Dao....I just finished testing the wires in the second largest ecu plug....I'd say I'm about 2/3 done. just have to test the smaller 2 plugs, and the wrap it up for installation.

A laboratory of Doom requires an internet connection faster the 56k.

...and that's a lot of wires.

I think the 56k adds more DOOM to the laboratory. think about it all those angry hour spent trying to load web pages. It gives the evil genius time to build up anger over slow internet and plot his diabolical schemes for world domination.

You need mutilated car pictures on the wall. And some sort of chemistry set with smoking bubbles.

    "finished" product:

that's just the EG33 side of the harness. with 12v power, that harness would run that motor in anything.

side note, though expensive (40-50 a month) I noticed while up there duluth has EVDO like minneapolis. not sure if you have good reception in your basement, but car +notebook +EVDO sprint card = posting everywhere!
evdo on a pcmcia card is ~1.5mb and pretty low pings with rev a.
I just had to throw that out there... cuz well, dial up is truly a form of torture.

that's why I wanted to test it. I knew there was something wrong with that circuit....I just couldn't figure out what it was.

too bad we couldn't get that other ECU to work. I would've like to see her fire up. but it'll happen soon enough

probably 6-8 hours of work...I've been really busy lately, so there was about a week and a half turnaround time.

now that I know the OBD I harnesses like the back of my hand....it's time to expand my horizons. I just downloaded '04 WRX/STi FSMs.....
