Hey all, does anyone know of a place that can clone TPMS? I want to pick up another set of wheels and my new car has sensors.. or should I just say f it and look at a light in the summer?
There's a lot of reprogrammable ones online, you'd probably have to buy their tool to get it done though. On the Outback forum, one member was saying that he took some off of his Leggy and had the dealership reprogram those ones. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums...-tpms-cloning-orange-electronics-sensors.html Thread is a few years old, but I'm sure technology hasn't really changed that much on them.
I bought one of these: http://www.amazon.com/ATEQ-QuickSet-TPMS-Reset-Tool/dp/B008SCWXN4?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 And use it twice a year to reprogram my car to the new TPMS sensors. Works great!
Can you read the sensor code on each tire with that tool? Or can you only upload the known codes to the ECU?
Huh. Both of our Fords recognize the second set on their own when I swap out the tire/wheel combos twice a year. The second set was programmed/cloned (I don't know if there is a difference in these terms when talking about TPMS sensors) just once when the new tires were mounted on the second set of wheels.
Something new learned every day. And here I was cursing some of the dumb a$$ things Ford does compared to my Subaru (and there are quite a few). Why is it that some simple and obvious things are so hard for car manufacturers to understand?
TMF - it does not read the codes unfortunately. It just loads the codes that you have stored on your PC. I have a printout of the codes that I can get from the tool so I always have a hard copy.
My cousin said he knows how to clone them at his shop.. Think I may just bring him the new wheels and let him have at it.
Your cousin able to help me get some sensors and clone them? I'm trying to get it done at the moment. Well trying to decide what to do with the new set of wheels.
He would be able to I'm sure since they are a shop. But if you're in the cities it'd be a good 2 hr drive.
I know it was up above as well, but a reminder that Discount Tire will do it for free. Takes 3 minutes.
