There is a clunking going on in the back of my car. Fobia and I thought it was the seat because it wasn't put in correctly so he fixeded it. The clunking hasn't stopped and Matt is in Florida. What else could it be? Springs? Struts? It could be a lot... Does the wing make noise? I've never even had a car with a wing before, I can't wait to get it off. Helpz please.

Differential maybe? What are you doing/what are driving conditions when the clunking occurs?

It occurs when I'm taking the inner roads, I hardly notice it when I'm on the freeway. Mostly over bumpz.

I would guess it's definitely in the strut department Bee, I think most people have to replace them about every 20,000 miles.

Ive seen alot of cars clunking and the fix is the sway bar end links(in general not subaru direct).
Park the car, Pop the trunk, have someone kneel on the trunk(with the trunk open) and bounce up and down while another person checks around to see if they can hear where its coming from. If you want you can bring it over and I can help you if you want.

to many dead bodies in the trunk will cause dead struts.

You might want to check for excessive junk in your trunk, if you're blowing struts too early.

i was thinking that exact same thing. expecially if they're old the rubber bushings can dry up and crack causing them to fall off and then you're left with metal on metal. making a clunk. thats what my old dsm had. my .02

She's Asian. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that she isn't carrying too much junk in her trunk. Asians just don't normally do that.

Bee, if you have to, come over and we'll take your seats out and tighten down your tophats in the rear. I'll be home tomorrow around 4:45-5. We'll also take a look at your rsb mounts to see if that's the deal too. Seriously, I can sometimes do car stuff, sometimes...

The water tank for the intercooler is in the trunk, the water has frozen and now it clunks around. It happened to mine, I had to melt it in a heated garage and and pump it out.

It's the strut, dont even waste your time taking stuff apart to tighten it, its a dead strut. Take it to the dealer and see if they will fix it under warrenty, even if your over the miles. This is an EXTREMLY common problem with the early STi's.
