So i have been doing some research when it comes to replacing my clutch and it seems the more and more i look the more contradiction i see. so i think at this point it will either be between a clutchmasters, or a comp clutch. The only issue is from what i'm seeing is the heavier the clutch the harder it is on your tranny...so i'm not exactly sure what route i should be taking...any suggestions?
well it doesn't need to be these 2 but i've heard good from both and alot of people speak high of them. current power in the 300whp range, 330-350 torque range? maybe idk thats all hear say. i'm on a NF e85 tune. modified STI injectors, dw c65 fuel pump, FMS TMIC, GS EBCS, Catless CNT DP and spt exhaust, if that helps calculate. tuned to about 19-20 psi. the most i ever want out of it is probably around the 350-400whp range. but not any time soon
I'm very happy with the first 600 miles I've put on my CM FX350. Stock-like pedal pressure but definitely grabby. I've never run a CC. I came from two ACT HDSS's and the difference is ridiculous. Definitely changed my perceptions on the relationship between a lol-heavy clutch and holding capacity. Our mod lists are very, very similar though I'm in a 5th gen LGT.
I was looking at the fx200-350's and i don't want the 300 or 350 to be to aggressive on my tranny? you think it would be alright to run a fx200? Anyone have an opinion on exedy? seems like NASIOC swears by them...stage 1 organic, or stage 2
Honestly you can baby it all you want if you have a stock 02-04 5spd its going to break. That said I have the act street HD and street light flywheel. Clutch is very heavy like surly said but I do like the feel.vs stock.
I had a "Stage 2" (organic) Competition Clutch in my 03 WRX and it was garbage. The car was ~300 WHP/320WTQ and the clutch wouldn't put the power down, would just slip when the torque came on. I eventually upgraded to a ACT SSHD clutch and made a world of difference. The SSHD has quite a bit stiffer pedal feel, but you get used to it. No need to worry about slippage - I beleive it's rated around 400TQ? IMO, the ACT HDSS would be a good fit for you. Good luck! EDIT: ACT HDSS is rated at 420TQ
Running Competition stage 2, it's good and is enough for my power goals for now. Clutch is a little stiff, but still fine for a daily driver
