I have an 02 wrx that will be getting a new JDM engine soon. The question is. Will my Cobb Ap work with the JDM ecu?
Nope. Need either ECU-tek or a standalone ECU like Apexi PowerFC if you're using the JDM ECU. You can use a USDM 16bit WRX ECU (02-05) to run the JDM engine, but you won't be able to use AVCS and I'm not certain what else is involved (harness merge) to make it work. Even then, I'm not certain if an AP can tune it, but I've seen few of them tuned opensource.
I will be buying the JDM ECU And wiring harness with the engine. So thats not a problem. I will be TGV delete running the AVCS. Not looking to retune right away. however I do have the Cobb and like the benefit of the gauges.
That is the problem lol. Cobb AP will not work with the JDM ECU. You shouldn't have to wire AVCS with TGV wires if you have the JDM harness. If you use the USDM ECU and harness, then you'll need to wire up the AVCS.
Exactly Why I am buying the JDM ECU and harness with the new engine. To avoid splicing the USDM harness. I guess I can put the Cobb AP up for sale and pocket some cash.
I guess I'd suggest talking with a reputable tuner and see what they recommend you go with before you get to deep into it.
