just a quick question. i just put in some front coilovers. now when i turn the wheels all the way i here groaning from the springs and some times a pop. after which the steering wheel doesnt quiet center correctly. (i can get it to center by turning all the way the other direction) is this something to worry about or are the springs just breaking in? other than that it works great.
Are you sure your wheels arent scraping somehwere? I had inside scraps when I do u-turns. You made sure your the springs are on the right way right? They will usually "pop" only after you drop your car from lifting it, it does this so it can fit the springs/struts guides. SOunds like "clunk." I would have to take a look to really tell you something though, Yia
everything looks good, now after a day of driving it doesnt really pop, but it groans when i turn hard
The first time I did my suspension, I didn't put the strut top on correctly. When I turned the steering wheel, the suspension would clunk. It turned out to be a bad suspension install and the strut top wasn't pivoting well with the strut. The springs were out of place and stuff. So if you get the chance, take a look up there again.
how can i tell if its not seated well? as far as i knwo it looks just fine. the noises are becoming less frequent.
Raise both front wheel off the car, and turn the steering wheel. If you hear some clunking, you may need to unbolt the whole thing, take it out, and put it back in making sure it's seated well.
That means something else is not right. Sorry, that was my only experience I had with clunking sounds. :I
see the thing is they dont pop/clunk now its just a slight groan when i REALLY crank the wheel like when i pull a u-ey or a 90 back up
I had the same prob with my coilovers. They were rubbbing on the inside. Not the fender side but the inner side. Dont know whats its called }
I had a similar sound when I installed my JICs last month. It only happened about 3-4 times, however, I haven't heard it again since then. It sounds like you may have had the same sound, it got better, but hasn't gone away. I am willing to bet I had the same problem, but it seems to have corrected itself for me. If it comes back, I will address it, but until then, I can't help you any more. A different complaint is the amount of noise coming from the rear! I know the brake lines are rattling in the mounts (they don't fit the lines), but maybe the fact that I am running 9k springs has something to do with it
i was talking with a buddy of mine who slammed his civic, and he has been getting similar sounds, he thinks its from the angle of the ti rods, because for the rods led from the center down and out to the wheel, now his switched so they go up to the wheel. could this be putting strain on the joints and making the noise?
