Yes, you read that subject line correctly. Competition Clutch has released two new clutch kits for the WRX & STi platforms and both of them come in under $400! Whether you are looking for a mild upgrade (Stage 2 $375 Shipped) or something a bit beefier (Stage 4 $395 Shipped) you no longer have to spend $500+ for a clutch kit!

Competition Clutch has rated their stage 2 clutch kits to 375whp for the 2.0L WRX and 400whp for the 2.5L STi. The stage 4 is even beefier at 425whp for the WRX and 450whp for the STi! Don't let the 6 puck disc scare you either as it retains great driveability characteristics with pedal effort similar to stock!

Funny you should bump this...I was just looking at making a clutch decision last night. I have had zero luck finding any feedback on these clutches (Subaru application). Anyone have significant experience?

    Thanks.

I have sold a bunch on Nasioc but nobody has taken the time to make a review. Maybe they are out having too much fun with their new clutch;) haha.

I should have a review by the end of the week from a customer in Michigan named "Rockthemullet" On nasioc.

i have the stage 4 on my sti and its still holding up strong with about 4k miles on it now. breaking in the clutch feels much better than once the clutch is broken into. once its broken into, the clutch seems to be very grabby. so if you don't engage the clutch in a smooth way, the car tends to lurks forward. thats my review as of now.

Well, I bought a Stg2 and I have ~3k on it. I haven't been happy, but I am not yet sure it is exclusively the clutch. The engagement is way too high on the pedal. In addition, it is very hard to tell where engagement starts, so that adds to the frustration. I originally had an issue with inconsistent behavior, but after 3 purges of the clutch line, that appears to have gone away. I have been unsuccessful in trying to change the engagement point on the pedal, but to be honest, I haven't spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to get it right. The standard pedal adjustment isn't the right way to correct this as it just changes the height of the pedal, not the engagement point.

What I do know about the clutch is that it is very aggressive for a Stg2. It chatters in 1st and reverse almost every time they are used. Ron over at RS put it in and he noted the same thing when I picked it up. CCI recommends a 1k mi break-in before it smooths out. It did get better, but still a lot of chatter for a Stg2. I also know my ACT Stg2 clutch in the RS is a much better feeling clutch (and significantly easier to drive, too).

I have the stage 4 six puck in my car and don't have issues. Its all on how you drive. Competition's clutches are designed to be an aggressive street clutch kit with good driving ability similar to stock. Its obviously going to be a bit more grabby and a tad harder to drive than stock, but you did just buy a performance oriented clutch.

I have about 10,000 miles on my clutch. Driven it in stop and go traffic ALOT of times, especially on my Michigan trips.

If I was looking for a clutch that was very very very easy to drive and can hold a little bit of power. I would go with a stage 1 from Exedy. But if you want something that holds the power and is cheap. Comp is the way to go!

you can always replace the clutch disk and keep your stock pressure plate, that will retain most of your stock feel. but ofcourse wont get you the higher clamp load.

would you recommend a competition clutch flywheel to go with the competition clutch kit or would it be better to go with like a ACT flywheel?...
