Well, here's what I did. I installed the Kartboy front and rear shifter bushings and the TurboXS short ram intake (http://www.jscspeed.com/wrx/intake/txs_intake.htm). The bushings made the shifter feel like there was a "crisper notchiness" when shifting. It wasn't as dramatic as I was thinking it would be, but still it was an improvement. The intake kicks A$$. The car pulls cleaner (smoother) from 3K to red line. When I shift, I definitely hear the stock BOV (I like that sound) as well as the rush of fuel when I put the pedal down. The BOV isn't too loud or too quiet, it's loud enough to know that it's there. No extra engine management yet, that will probably come when I upgrade the exhaust. Going through the gears is sweet music
how were the bushings to put in. I have some laying in my garage. just to lazy to put them on after i broke the windshield putting the kb ss in.
Since I don't have a lift or a great many tools, I had a mechanic put them in. He put the bushings on for $35.00. He said it wasn't that bad. It was only about a 30 minute job.
They aren't that bad on turbo models, on an NA you will grind your teeth in pain on the back bushing. (god damn heatshieds!) Remember, THREAD the DRIVER SIDE bolt before the passenger side on the rear bushing, it makes life much easier. Get the car as high off of the ground as you safely can. Oh and don't piss yourself off trying to take the front bushing(s) out because the factory one is a single rubber bushing (I kept trying to pry it out thinking it was 2 seperate ones like the kartboy/cobb) It's easier to just PUSH IT THROUGH =)
I'd be interested in ordering and doing KB bushings at some point in the next month or two... no experience but maybe we could work something out with another member or two and have an install day.
Here's a good write-up. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3790 I didn't do the install myself so I can't anwer from experience. Kurt
