i was wondering how much something like this would cost? who can do it and what are some of the steps that take place. iam thinking since i still have a cel code for my car after i swiched the spark plugs and checked the coil packs that i would need to do this. thanks
well.. If you just changed your plugs and you're geting a low compression absed CEL, I'd say you probably didn't put one of your plugs in tight enough.
Did you put in new plugs because you got the CEL? or after? like zach said, not tightening them enough would do that, they have a crush washer on them
What code is it throwing? What makes you think a compression check is needed? Got many miles? Overboosted & think you blew a ring land?
it's throwing the cylinder 1 and 3 misfire. i had the spark plugs cahnged once, than later i changed them agin and also had the coil packs switched to see if it was one of those, and the code still came up after a while. i just figured that i maybe hade a low compression in one of the cylinders. it has 105,000 miles on it. and i dont think it's been over boosted.
injector clean maybe.. seems like you have addressed spark issue but not fuel maybe...?!?!?1 like an injector firing wrongly....???
i have done some cleaning for them, seafom, and like octaine booster. but i guess nothing serious. is there something i could do for that? i know at your shop i got some kind of cleaning done, i dont know if it was just for the gunk in the engine or if it was for the fuel system.
well, i'm 95% sure thats what happened based on the symptoms. but I never took the motor apart to find out for sure. The car was 100% stock and then low compression at 140k so I just did the swap. You burning any oil? Do a compression test too. I would do one sooner than later before you make a rebuild on your current motor more expensive. But hopefully its something trivial. good luck!
no i have not been burning oil. and yeah i will do one soon. i hope its not to expensive or to big of a problem....
