My company announced today that they could not issue our paychecks because there isn't enough money in the bank to cover them.

So, I am now officially in the job market full bore.

I have a substantial amount of experience developing applications in .Net, VB6, and VBA/Access (full time employment for the last 6 years straight, currently the Senior Software Engineer at my company - been doing it since I was 12). I am a wizard with SQL and can design a database like nobody's business. I have substantial skills in many areas of computing (I manage several mixed Windows/Linux networks in their entirety, for example), but programming is my #1 passion. I'm quite good at what I do and very motivated.

If anyone knows of any employment opportunities for computer programmers, I would love to hear about them.

We have a .NET developer position open at my company.
    Read more here - http://www.nonin.com/jobs.asp?id=89
If you're interested PM me and I'll submit your resume.

It's a long shot though because it's been open for a while and the manager just told me they are down to 2 candidates.

    You ever work with C#?

I consider myself an expert in C#. I've been working it since Visual Studio 2003 was in developer preview - so a good 7 years. It's my language of choice when I have one and I understand the .Net framework on what I consider a quite deep level.

If I took a quick stab at a number, I would guess I've personally written a couple hundred thousand lines of C# that have gone into released applications, and maybe another hundred thousand that went into internal utilities, personal helper apps, and projects that never saw the light of day.

I've measured myself writing over 250 lines of tested and functional C# code in a single work day (weekly averages - I hit this figure routinely now when coding the data access layer in new multi-tier applications), and I find my long term project average exceeds 50 lines per day. I believe the accepted industry standard for productivity is about 20 lines per day.

I think Hennepin County is hiring for a few IT related positions, you may want to take a peek at working for the county. The pay isn't that great but the benefits are awesome and working for the gov't offers some decent job security.

First, I wanted to say thanks to the opportunities people let me know about (can't believe it was 8 months ago already). It's been complicated, and I haven't been able to look for different work in the intervening months, but now I am back in the market solidly.

So, if anyone knows of leads on openings for C# programmers I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks!!

Hey there! EP is a bit far from Uptown, but I just had a job posting come across my desk today for a programmer position at CH Robinson Worldwide. http://www.chrobinson.com/careers/how-to-apply.asp

Look for job ID 4467. There are a number of other Development positions available as well. All of them are located in Eden Prairie.

It is a great place to work, granted, it is my first job, but I love it.

CH Robinson is a great company to work for. Know a few past and present employees who like working there and benefits were stellar. Couple years ago they rec'd an award for the best med. sized company to work for in Mpls.
Drive from Uptown is not too bad which I can vouch for since I live in SW Mpls/Edina border and drive door--to-door is 9 miles for me while I work across the street on Tech. Drive.
    Good Luck, Q!

I received your PM. Did you ever hear if they were interested in someone specializing in C#?

    Replied to your PM.
