I figured some of you Mac vs. PC guys may love this article: http://consumerist.com/384443/7-confessions-of-an-apple-macintosh-specialist After reading it, along with some of the comments/experiences from people who have worked in Apple stores, I fully understand how that environment fosters the typical "Mac Fanboyism." They may have very good customer service, but their marketing strategy really seems to rope it's target audience in. It just doesn't seem like an environment that fosters rational comparative thoughts and comparison. The more I think about it, I guess the Mac vs. PC TV ad's are this whole marketing strategy personified. Thoughts?
You summed it up perfectly. I've tried having a rational, logical conversation with MAC people, and it always devolves into personal attacks because I simply "don't get it."
All of my experiences with the Apple store have been terrible, and I would recommend you get any warranty service through an authorized Apple 3rd Party Repair facility. They should add "Never bring your Intel mac in with 3rd party memory. We will take it out, then place it in a plastic baggie taped to your system, because we cannot handle non-Apple RAM." .... But, you handled it taking it out, right?
From what I've seen on numerous online forums that article is spot on. There are educated Mac users out there. They're just few and far between and get drowned out by the howls of idiot monkeys.
I forget where I read it, but there was an article by a guy that reviews tech stuff for a major magazine that said he gets hate mail and death threats from Apple fanbois whenever he writes an article and says anything even remotely critical of Apple products. I guess in one instance he gave a great review of an Ipod product but said one little thing about how the connector for it wasn't sturdy and he got hundreds of angry fanboy letters in his inbox about how he was an idiot and how he 'didn't get it.'
mac ftl.....pc all the way!!!!! shhh don't tell pc I have a ipod touch...seriously mac is like sabb they try to be different just to be different not because their any better.
And if Apple produces a "different" product every few months, then by steve, you better go out and buy the recycled and "updated" technology. You owe it to yourself to keep up.
Danger, it's going to turn rabid fanboy in here fast! I like my MacBook Pro because I am a Unix scripter and sysadmin at work, so kicking open a Terminal window and having every command at my disposal that I use on Solaris is just bliss. Seriously, Bash > command.exe by decades. I have lots of other reasons, but that wasn't the intention of this thread.
The IPod is a prime example of corporate asshattery. Those things change CONSTANTLY, and they are always lowering the price of the models just a few months after release. If you bought an iPhone when it came out, you got hosed.
Also, I am still using an iPod Mini. Yes, this one. Still works great, and I don't need more than 4 gigs. Hell I even got it for $90 used almost 3 years ago. So I guess I'm not your typical Apple consumer.
That is what it's good for. And I bet that half the mac fanboys don't even know how to use their damn terminals properly. I mean .. aside from MAYBE ls and cd ~
i know both sides of it, i like my mac simply because i dont have as many problems with it and its not running Vista.
And if they do know how to use ls and cd, they likely wont admit that they learned those commands on MS DOS based command windows.
And when you want to do anything else you fire up boot camp into Vista.... why Vista I don't know..... Don't flame me I've seen him do it.
Yes, this is true. However, it's been my experience that Apple fans will not let that slide, and insist that you "check out" the newest latest and greatest Apple product.
Yeah, using what works for you is fine as long as it is Apple products that you use. Otherwise you are just another boring Windoze sheep.
I said others too..that includes me...so I will throw rocks...lots of them....and post whore, and make dumb threads...
did I say I was smart or better than anyone........ no??? seriously I find you more annoying than Tarass, cause I can just ignore his threads, but for some reason I cant get rid of you(ignore button doesn't help)...its like you make a purpose to reply to everything I say... I am not going anywhere so get used to it, and get used to my posts.
