Who has what and how much do you want for it? if you dont have one for sale do you have a recommendation for where to buy it?
Laugh! It's supposed to be funny. In all honesty, I wanted one, and then the ONLY game I needed for ps3 came out on PC.
I just bought a PS3. I got the 80gig version from Costco. IMO that is one the the best places to buy it. Just the system at places like Best Buy and Target is going to run you 400 before tax, I got my PS3 with an extra controller and HDMI cable for 470 before tax. If you are set on one I would shop at Costco.
pm subidave he may want to get rid of ours we want a wII its a 40g btw I will even include my gt prologue and grand theft auto 4 and 2 remotes.
+1... its truly just looking out for another.. not really any hate towards the ps3.. just experience taught me to stay away.. http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/playstation-3-blu-ray.ars good read..
I would buy new, from a retail store. If you don't, you have no warranty. I've seen PS3's die. You buy one off of craigslist, and it dies on you in a week, your screwed. Also: The 40gig PS3's are $299 now I believe, brand new. PS3 > Xbox can you say, Blu Ray? Xbox is supposedly coming out with an EXTERNAL blu-ray player you can attach...
Love my PS3, but i've had 2 bork on me. Lucky BB returned both and gave me brand new ones. I suggest you buy new as well.
I own both and can say that, as a GAMING console, the PS3 needs GAMES to get anywhere near the 360. It really has no games I actually want to buy at this point. Also, no. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55241
I have had absolutely zero problems with my PS3 and I've had it more than a year now... Bluray DVDs are NICE! One of my good friends has had his 360 for nearly 2 years and has gone through 3 of them with the famous "red light of death" which happened each time. I think it's safe to say they both have their problems, I just chose based on the Bluray, and the console brand/controller I have been playing for years, versus the 360.
i was just going to say this. Every thing is going to have its problems. I know someone with over 55 days of play time with COD4 on his PS3 with no problems. But i am on my second 80gig. they just came out with a revised 80gig to fix previous problems with it. But i love my playstation. The op said he wants a PS3, not a 360, and half the people are telling him not to get it. whats up with that? But you will be happy with either console.
I have the first gen 80 gig (4 USB ports, big chip) and it works great. If you have a first gen one, the biggest suggestion I have found is keep it cool. Don't buy a cooler as they have been proven to raise the temps. Just keep it out in the open, and keep dust out. Bill, I recommend you buy new. The 80G's now are down to $400, as they don't make anything else anymore. No 40G's, no 20G's, no 60G's. Everything is now the 80G, 2 USB ports, and 1 Dual-Shock controller. I know 2 friends that have had multiple X-Box's and 360's and they've all died. PS2's and PS3's can die as well. That's why you buy new, and get an extended warranty.
+1 to heat being a MAJOR factor in death for both systems. Both run fairly hot, they need lots of open space to breathe. Also I've had my PS3 for almost a year with no problems, and lots of time on COD4.
all electronics fail. PERIOD!!! my question was not should I get a ps3 or a 360 but WHERE to get the ps3. I dont game much but I would enjoy some of the games. It is from what I hear one of the best blue ray players for not much more then a stand alone blue ray players. take yoru 360 comments elsewhere.
I agree about the failures. If you buy from CostCo you won't need to buy any additional warranty, I believe everything is covered by CostCo for 2 years. No mailing it in to the manufacturer, just bring back everything, and you get a brand new exchange off the shelf. It's the best warranty you can find around town on electronics.
Costco is the best place to buy it, they will take it back no questions asked. Places like gamestop charge you for the warranty, and what they don't tell you is that warranty charge is good for one replacement, so if your replacement breaks down and you didn't buy the warranty on that machine you're SOL.
